Having upgraded my PC recently I'm looking for some game recommendations.

I tend to enjoy FPS and puzzle adventure games like Tomb Raider the most.

For FPS: Half Life series, Portal and recently enjoyed Titanfall 2. So shooters where enemies don't need a hundred bullets to kill.

I'm also enjoying Cyberpunk at the moment but mainly the bit between the narrative where I collect bounties! Though the story & world building does add to it.

Any recommendations along these lines, or even different genres that fit with what I tend to enjoy?

Talos principle is a puzzle fps you might enjoy.

Edit. It’s not an fps, it’s just in fpv but you can switch.

You might enjoy some of the Farcry games, I wouldn't say any of them were puzzle titles but they do have a lot of side objects and an open world.

Resident Evil 4 could fit the bill if you don't mind third person shooters, gorgeous game with a lot to explore. It has side objects you can do, as well as quite a few puzzles required to progress.

Remnant 2 - it's a tps instead of fps, but it's v good, if you want a challenging action shooter.

Borderlands series might be worth a look. B2 was great, but 3 was average. I've not tried 4, but I think it's back on form with 2.

Have you played the Tomb Raider 1-3 remasters?
No, although played a lot of TR2 when it first came out on the PlayStation.

Some of the recommendations are already in my backlog which is good.

I certainly don't mind recommendations for third person games, I think it's the just those where I have to hit something a hundred times in a pattern that I end up dropping.

Remnant 2 isn't one I've seen before so will take a closer look, although the boss mechanics might put me off.

Some Playstation stuff is great on Pc with controller

The Last of Us series
Uncharted series (very much like Tomb Raider but lacks Laras Grunts :D and of course lets not forget the original Tomb raider himself, Indiana jones and yhe Great Circle)
Returnal
Rachet and Clank
Horizon Zero Dawn
Ghosts of Tsushima
Yakuza series though I probably would start later in series at say Zero where controls were less janky
Transistor

Puzzle games - Talos games, and The Witness. I'd probably also suggest looking at Escape Academy and Escape Simulator

You mentioned Half Life, so Black Mesa? Maybe the Hitman and Deus Ex games? While I didn't play it as an FPS, I know nearly all of my friends did - Dying Light?

I'd agree with Mass Effect/Borderlands/Remnant, but I feel they'll be as curveball-y as my suggestions above. I'd imagine Borderlands is probably the best 'fit'.

All 3 of the Bioshock Remastered games are worth a look, Doom 2016, Doom Eternal and Doom Dark Ages. And for something a little different, Elden Ring and Clair Obscure Expedition 33 (<< a must have). And another shout out for the Horizon Zero Dawn games.

High on life
Atomic heart

Both I played on gamepass and would never have normally played as they were not realistic enough or "grown up" enough to warrant buying but I really enjoyed both.

Neither were ground breaking or deep and meaningful but they were just fun and it had been a while since playing just for fun.
