Is there anyway to get a single slot 680 4gb (water cooled) at the moment?
After getting a second 27, trying to run anything with AA across those two plus my 30" means 2-5 fps due to vram limits on my 480s :(
Need single slot to be able to have 3 of them plus sound card and raid card - although I suppose I could only have two if I have too.

So yea, any single slot 4gb 680s around?

Single slot air cooled, oh god.

8800GT memories, like having a hairdryer in your pc.

It'll be GPU power limiting you not vram. (Well mainly, 2GB 680s will be alright)

That must be weird as hell having 2 27s and a 30.

Hes talking about his 480's vram as i found this when running 3x470's @ 2560x1440 over step the vram frame rate falls through the floor!! but stilll mass's of gpu power as keeping it below the vram limit was 100+ FPS

And if hes running 3 2560 screens I think 4gb would be a good bet.

Also I dont think there are any single slots at the power connecters are stacked on the 680 pcb, soyou'll have to look at 7970's if you want single slot cards.

I may be out of my depth here as I know little about socket 1366 boards...

But whats in the PCI slot (3rd slot down, black shortest of the bunch) as you should be able to use this in an x16 lane so you could have this layout with dual slot cards:

[1] GPU
[2] GPU (second slot)
[3] GPU
[4] GPU (covering the black slot, second slot)
[5] What ever was in the above slot
[6] What ever you use in here, Sound card/raid card
[7] GPU
[8] GPU (second slot)

?

Defy: Air cooled? God that would be noisy lol. PC is loud enough already just from the vibrations from all the drives lol.

Currently I have
16x slot = GPU
empty space (no slot)
16x slot = GPU
8x slot = empty
16x slot = GPU
PCI slot = Sound card
16x Slot = Raid Card

In a tj 07, i dont think the bottom slot would have enough space for a dual slot card, as it would be pressing against the mid plate in the tj-07.
Since I have the space on the top two for dual slots, I could technically play with only two cards. I have often only been using two cards atm and it works fine on most games as I end up being CPU limited in lots of what I play.

Its not weird having a 27"///30"///27" - Its actually really nice, although I am debating selling the 30 and getting a 3rd 27 in order to enable proper surround and not having to use windows.

You are correct in that I am not limited by GPU power, If I run eve across all three screens I am happily getting loads of FPS at all times, sitting at 14xxMB VRAM used at max. If I put 2xAA on I sit at 1536MB VRAM used and get 2-5 fps. This is because on the 480s there is only 1.5gb VRAM.

If I am going to shell out £1500 (including blocks and stuff) for new cards, I dont want to only upgrade by 500mb so that the next game that comes along hits a VRAM limit, I would much rather get the 4gb versions and be set for a couple of years :)

Pic below is my setup as it is right now, except for me raising the side monitors via boxes

Edit: Cleeecooo spec is in sig, rampage 3 extreme and a tj07

Personally, I'd just go with 2 cards to make it easier.

You could get a 7990 (if they ever come out) and a 7970 so you get the power of 3x 680 (roughly) and you still have 3gb VRAM which should be fine using only 4 slots.

7990 is not going to be made by ati there are after market ones made by TUL but i dont know how easy the would tri-fire with a 7970 due to being an un-official card.

Personally, I would really prefer Nvidia.
While I am happy for ATI in single card solutions for my other PC's, my experience with Nvidia multi GPU has been so much nicer, and now i know my way around the driver settings etc to eliminate micro stutter, if and when it happens, I dont want to change lol

The galaxy's might be an option, but it does depend on price. I think I will prob go for just two (saving money woo) if the galaxy's are too expensive. 2 680 should = similar to 3 480's anyway shouldnt they?
