Sinnis Apache or Yamaha YBR

In a bit of a problem.
Went to a local dealer the other day to have a nosey around bikes.
Sinnis Apache
£1800 for brand new.
£550 p/y, £300+ compulsory excess
YBR
£1800 used 2006 model with 6000 miles
£300 p/y £200+ compulsory excess

The YBR is an older bike which worries me.

YBRs are basically bullet proof and there's much more chance of something going wrong on a cheap Chinese bike.

Don't buy a Chinese bike. Although the sinnis bikes are better than most, they're still not as good as a jap bike.

Also, that brand new sinnis at £1800 brand new will be worth about £500 in a year. The YBR, you could buy at £1800 and sell a year later at £1800.

If you have that sort of budget, get a Honda Varadero 125. The biggest/most powerful 125, and will also hold it's value very well. I bought mine for £1700 in April with 11k on the clock, I've done 6k and expect to get the same back if I sell privately in the next few months.

I have no want or need for a "big bike"
I liked the apache as its nice and light feels nice but insurance kills it....
Also my bike selection is kinda limited think they have a honda 125 cbr there as-well for a similar price.

Get something Japanese, you won't regret it
read this review of the Sinnis Apache 125
"Owned since march 2014, started out as a good bike but after 6 months and 4000 miles things are falling apart. Chain snapped, loose spokes, Rpm gauge doesnt work. Exhaust rusting (bike has even been covered in acf50) Back caliper seized twice. Speedo drive broken. And numerous petrol leaks from carb and inlet manifold also the electics are very temperamental. Dont believe the Warrenty all the dealers will shy away and try saying its wear and tear or neglect. Service intavals are silly at every 2000 km. Gearbox is notchy and engine rough (not a suzuki engine more like a very cheap copy). It may sound very tempting at £1600 brand new but id rather have put my money into a Japanese quality product. Have a long hard think before you throw away your money on a bike not fit for purpose........"

If you want something new for under £2K take a look at the Kymco CK1. Looks nicer than a YBR and decent build quality (built in Taiwan)

I actually started a thread about a Chinese bike a few threads down. The Skyteam ACE is worth a look but depends what you want it for - I see it as more of an interesting project and base bike.

Also how old are you and how long do you intend keeping the bike? It used to be a case of just buying something cheap until you passed your test, but with the licensing laws now it's worth buying something better.

Yes, because as others have said you'll basically get back what you paid for it when it comes to sale time.

Thing is you can get a brand new one for like £2300-2600
I don't think its worth buying a used one for so much when you can get used ones for as little as £1200 else where.

Keep looking, you're being bent over on price for that YBR to be honest.
I got my 2010 one for 1.3k and if you go private rather than dealer then you can pick up an even better deal.

I've heard that said before but that doesn't appear to be true at all, I've never seen one that cheap I'd probably take a chance on a used one if they went that cheaply, not that I've seen many used ones which isn't really a good sign either.

Nevermind with the ybr, it has rust, scratches, dents etc when I had a good look at it.
Just not worth it for £1500.
There is not much selection anywhere near me (within 100miles)
