Six years since last proper upgrade - £500 budget

A friend has asked me to investigate upgrading his pc. He says he wants to play Black Ops at high gfx settings but his pc can only currently handle medium. He did say he's trying to run it at the maximum resolution too! Is it a gfx card upgrade / base system upgrade or both that's needed?

Currently, all I know is it's an i7 950 with 12gb ddr3 hyperx ram and an nvidia 970 gfx card. I know he's got a decent monitor. He also wants a 1TB ssd. His budget is £500 and has case and a 450 watt power supply.

I can put the stuff together and fairly sure I've got some thermal paste somewhere if needed. If it's just he needs a new gfx card then fine.

The 970 will manage Blops at good FPS unless he has a giant monitor. Go for a Ryzen setup.
