Ive had a PS3 for a week now and ive got 2 games - Motorstorm and R:FOM but the problem im having is ive read in numerous places that you steer and aim etc by tilting the pad yet i cant get it to work? i have to use the little joystick things in the middle!
Have i read this wrong that you can do this or what am i doing wrong?
Thanks

John

In motorstorm, in the pause menu you can enable sixaxis steering. i think the only way RFOM uses is is by shaking to get one of the Chimera off you.

Its used to shake off bullseye targets, extinguish yourself when your on fire and as said before shake off chimera. Cant quite remember how but i also thought you can use the sixaxis to hit with your rifle butt (or did i imagine that?)

Well i was seeing if i could do somethin different because at the minute i must be the cr@pest PS3 player in the world, i cant even get into that house bit on the first level of R:FOM right after the first check point, i just get wasted and theres no energy anywhere? and i cant even do the second track on motorstorm ha ha ha!

Without trying to demean the PS3, the sixaxis is a failed gimmick. You won't see it being used as a standard means of control in the console's vast majority of games.

Im waiting to see how well it works in games such as Lair and Warhawk If it works well i think we'll see more Sixaxis motion controls in future games.

agreed, more sixaxis based games and those that use it less obviously to come

You'll use it, think "Heh, that's pretty entertaining", then go back to analogue for it's ease of steering.

As good as it could be, if I'm not impressed with Nintendo's effort on the Wii, I doubt I'll ever be converted to loving the Six-Axis. I think if Sony had the chance to go back they would have gone for Rumble (Court case not taken into account).

Screw SixAxis, just WTF at the controllers weight!

Why does something have to be heavy to be better?

My TFT is lighter than my old CRT. Does that make it worse also?

No, but light feels flimsy and uncontrollable.

I agree weight has no real effect on a monitors performance. I want a controller to feel solid and up to rigerous use. With the PS2 controller i always felt like I could break the damn thing, however the xbox controller always felt much more solid, didn't rattle and survived being thrown at the wall a lot :D

I'm looking foward to how the six-axis works with the likes of Warhawk & Lair.

Personally I hate the official controller, it feels to light and is awkward to use for most games :( The 360 controller is soooo much better.

While I like the shape of the 360 controller better, I do not have a problem with the PS3 controllers weight or functionality. If anything a lighter controller should make sixaxis more usable as when using sixaxis you are not going to be resting your arms on your lap as this will restrict your movement. Surely the lighter a controller is, the longer you can hold it out in front of you?

Don't forget that rumble is also missing from current controllers, another reason they are slightly lighter.

With regards to being flimsy and uncontrollable, has anyone actually managed to break one yet with normal use? (throwing at walls excluded as I'm sure I could break a 360 controller when throwing at a wall ;) )

Really should update my sig. Trader the 360 for the PS3 ages ago now.

Even if you can aiming by tilting a controller would feel like ass. Big fat smelly ass.

lol best quote i've read all day :)

Hasnt sony announced its dropping the sixaxis stuff and putting rumble back in or something? (which i imagine will make it heavier and more to some peoples liking)

nah, just adding rumble to sixaxis.

i like the sixaxis more that the 360 controller myself - nice and light.
