Skiing - Chamonix

I'm normally skiing 3 to 4 trips a year and never needed half of this gear.

How high is Chamonix? As a beginner I doubt you'll be going too far from the bottom so just get the basics.

If you have time then it's well worth going to an indoor snow slope in the UK for a couple of lessons to get you started.

Also sportpursuit are pretty good for branded gear at really cheap prices. You just have to double check delivery dates on stuff you order!

Same here. I'm not taking a bag full of stuff on the slopes. Decent coat, thermal base layers and salopettes. A beginner is not going to want to be taking loads of layers either as they will be working very hard on the slopes. When the sun is out it is warm too. You can easily stuff some water and a snack in the coat pockets.
