Skiing Season!

Going for a week in jan/feb, maybe france. Same sort of thing a I did last year - About £600 each for a catered chalet and flights. Around 12 of us going from ages 24 - 65.

£600 for the chalet
£250 lift pass
£100 Skis
£200-??? Lunch in days, alcohol from shops and a nights out

Id say im a pretty capable skier, can handle most blacks and some off piste. Unlike most I enjoy the challenge of moguls and of course off piste

couple of random pics from last year...

the only way is down

Guest those picture look brill! Where about is that? Wondering if you be able to offer me any help or reccomendation when it comes to goggles? Looking to invest in a nice pair this season as my other ones are some cheap BLOC ones (orange lense) getting probably little bit worse for wear and don't really offer much visual help in sun light which i hear is quite an issue in Tignes, France

That's odd, because usually orange lenses work really well in bright conditions. Obviously if you're looking for something good then Oakley, Smith or Bolle are usually the brands to go for.

(BTW for low light conditions, look for yellow lensed goggles)

Moving to Germany on Sunday. Planning to spend as much time as I can snowboarding, just need to get myself a car over there ASAP and I'll be sorted :D.

I have a mirrored pair of dragon mace for sun and a a yellowy/orange very low light lens set of Oakley A frames for bad light. Having experimented with lenses that claim to do it all I've found that the best is to have two specialised pairs (or switch lens if you can be bothered).

oakley crowbars or oakley splice

buy different lenses for different light conditions

by far the best goggles I've ever owned and I've tried every other option (Dragon and Electric weren't too bad i suppose)

I should be going back to Morzine again next Jan. Just depends how much money I spend in Florida over Christmas. I have a feeling it's going to be expensive :)

Going to Morzine on 27th Dec and coming back on 2nd Jan. Will be my 3rd time boarding there :)

Got a chalet in Morzine 2 Jan to 8 Jan. 8 people with three complete beginners.

In the process of picking a powder board for this season and can't decide (but quite enjoying the process!). Mulling between Malolo, capita charlie slasher, or one of the new Jones snowboard's hovercraft. Anyone ridden any of those?

My regular ride is an Arbor Coda 158 which I absolutely love, will go anywhere and do anything - it's a little rocket too, but I like to have some real float for the back country days (currently have a 165 palmer honey circle which floats well but is a bit long in the tooth and not stiff enough for me now.)

I'll probably go about 4-5 times this season. Usually America (Colorado) once and around Europe the rest. I'm off to Austria next month and will do Slovakia (Tatras mountains) a week later. As I'm off most of January, I'll most likely head to Scandinavia for 3 weeks as I've never investigated the slopes up there properly.

actually it's crowbar i have, the wife has a frames. I like them but don't think they perform any better than my dragons (nicer finish on the Oakleys though)

try the splices, they have a lovely wide nose section on them, the visible area is also pretty massive, some goggles you are very aware of, these are pretty unobtrusive

(we are all rather stoned, hotboxing the VT chair lift!)
sadly as im a fashion victim I cant find any photos of me actually wearing them, just balancing them on my forehead to look cool and maximise my tan.....

Cool, for reasons too dull to go into some Danish **** head I know owes me a new set of goggles so may be I'll give them a shot!

Some awesome slopes there. Resort is a bit big and spread out and whoever designed it had no care for Alpine charm but you will love it.

Worth investigating cab prices to Val D'Isere for a night out as well. If you are hardcore enough, just head over the top to Val, hit Apres, stay out all night, go to Dicks and get cab back to Tignes.

Great run from the top of Tinges:

Nice runs in Val D'isere too

Just booked Morzine - 5 days 5th Jan :D cant wait

More photos people ... :)

Ive been using some Oakley ones I got when I was about 16, 17 for a present. They are still fantastic

Think they are L frames, look like these...

Here is our ski trip from new year 2009 in courchevel to get you all in the mood!

the bit at the end is the new year outdoor party. live DJs, amazing fireworks. It snowed (as you can see) and it was just amazing.

You are far from the first to make that mistake, fat face (the clothing brand) produced an entire seasons worth of clothes with that spelling mistake :D
