Skills you should have in life?

common sense
ability to read/write
ability to count

i'm not joking either. i've worked with people in their 20's who cannot count. i feel like jumping up and down on their heads at times. there is no excuse for it.

Speak another language.
Be outgoing and self confident.
Able to cook.
Be patient and introspective.
Be open minded.
Be honest and genuine.
Be literate and numerate.

When you eventually have your own house you will automatically know after a couple of years what basic skills are and skiing, playing guitar, playing golf etc aren't part of it.
eg - Cooking, washing, ironing, wiring a plug, car maintenance, finance, parenting etc and you're somewhere near there.

What do people find so important about speaking foreign languages?

Not having a dig, but surely the english language is the most important and we all know it?

All i can think of is that it comes in handy sometimes?

I studied french at GCSE.

Because in most other countries they view the English as rather arrogant for expecting them to learn English.

What, you mean ordering things like Le confit de canard au jus d'ail? Or perhaps Un oeuf en meurette...

:p

The ability to let things slide and not worry so much.

Too many people worry too much about things excessively, including me, it is something I am trying to work on.

Be able to drive
Be able to ski
Be able to play golf
Good general understanding of world affairs and politics
Good understand of history
None of them are essential.
Driving isnt allways needed, although it is handy.
Ski & Golf are optional hobbies, nothing more.
Understanding of world affairs & politics is also pointless in 90% of jobs/situations out there.
Same with history.

The only skill thats 'essential' is good social skills.

that is deffinatly something peopel should do, pun aside, people should learn an instrument, something more then a triangle ;) - teached you something about yourself

Yeah, jokes aside, I really cant imagine my life without being able to play an instrument. No matter how bored I am or how crap I feel, I know with a little wooden box and some metal strings I can create music with my own hands, everyone should know that feeling. I guess I see it in the same way as a born-again christian would see their religion - it totally changed my life.
