I wouldnt do either of the above, there both too brief, and dont explain how to do it properly.

Open the photo.
Click the "Edit in Quick Mask mode" button (underneath the black and white squares on the tools pallete bar, its two squares with circles in them, its the one on the right, the grey one with the white circle in it)

Make sure you have black selected as your colour, then chose paint brush. Paint over the areas of your daughters face you would like to change colour.
It should start to paint her face bright red. This is just a mask, dont worry.
When you have finished and have painted over all the bit you want to change, click out of "quick mask mode" (click the other square with a circle in it on the tools menu, the white one)

You should see a selection line around your daughters face now.
Click Select menu > inverse.

Go to image menu > adjustments > hue and saturation, and reduce the saturation to her face
Or
Image > adjustments > colour balance, and reduce the level away from red.

Hope that helps. ahhh seems im too late anyways. :(

'Q' gets you into Quick Mask too ;)

I'd also feather the selection a bit once it's been made, 25px or something. Otherwise you might get obvious editing borders (depending on the brush you use to paint the mask).
