Skip 4000 series wait for 5000 series?

Very happy with the performance of my 3080 Ti, that, coupled with me tending to run cards for at least two years (four for my last one) means I'll probably upgrade to a six series, assuming of course, that we haven't all been vapourised by a Russian murdering madman in the meantime.

How about skip 4000 series and buy AMD 7000 series. Don't know if I can believe this performance and these price points.

Are you being stupid purposefully?

It says both Nvidia and AMD are over 2x faster than their previous not just AMD.
ROFL. Literally only a little bit after the part you linked too.

No price for Nvidia yet.

Also click bait video image at the beginning and click bait title.

Ok Putin, since you seem to be rude and aggressive about, it rather than debating if the price and performance seem likely, and the 7000 series will be a better buy, we will all bend the knee to you and buy nvidia

AMD need to offer more performance like +20% for the same price or the same performance for 20% cheaper if they want me to ditch nvidia, just price matching isn't enough.

Is that what you got from my post?

I was being critical of your silliness where you state AMD have such a large improvement implying Nvidia don't.

Do you even understand the drivel you posted?

"How about skip 4000 series and buy AMD 7000 series. Don't know if I can believe this performance and these price points.

Yes logic and intelligence look aggressive to people who are stupid, welcome to reality.

There is no debate, watch the video again and listen this time.

Personally I don't believe the performance uplift will be that large. 3090 like performance at $400 when AMD can't even beat a 5 year old card at the $200 price point this generation.

If we get a 60% uplift on the top cards then I'd call that a result, the lower tiers will be lucky to see a 20% increase on their predecessors considering current gen cards like the 6500XT, 6600 and 6600XT are only able to match RDNA1 cards like the 5500XT, 5700 and 5700XT which retailed at the same MSRP prices.

Well it is all up in the air and nothing is grounded with real evidence yet so I would advise waiting it out like I would think most people are anyway and don't be drawn in to any type of hype, even by fave Youtubers or places you visit.

I would still be on my 1080Ti if I had not upgraded my VR headset. I usually wait until my PC can't do something I want to do...then overspend wildly on new shiny toys.

That HP Reverb is the only thing makes my 3080Ti break a sweat since I am otherwise happy to game at 1080p. (For flat-screen gaming)

You present as using rudeness and aggression in your post as you lack the intelligence and social skills to hold a civil discussion.

The video title was "Goodbye Nvidia", you claim that title is click bait. Did I ever state that the title wasn't click bait or that Nvidia was dead? Sorry that your so stupid that you cannot grasp basic comprehension.

I wrote that "Don't know if I can believe this performance and these price points". After all we have been hearing for the past year and a half that some of the MRSP set by AMD and Nvidia are unrealistic, eg FE price points cannot be met by AIB partners. Same with Vega on the AMD side some years back, AMD's RX Vega Launch Prices Might be Just Smoke and Mirrors | TechPowerUp Are these suggested price points in the video going to be fake or real for the amount of ram and performance?

You seem to lack the comprehension that in saying that I don't know if AMD will reach that performance at that price I am actually implying that Nvidia might not be dead as I am not sure if AMD can reach that price performance.

Also I provided the video for everyone to watch for themselves, you state, it clearly said that Nvidia would also get good performance. How is providing a video that says Nvidia will have good performance implying that they will not?

Learn to present information properly and maybe you would have had a point.

If that is what we were supposed to get from what you posted, you failed miserably.

The video says "Goodbye Nvidia"
It is a video focused on AMD.
You then mentioned "How about skip 4000 series and buy AMD 7000 series.".

So it looks like you taking a side whilst in the video it mentions both have leaks and rumors of over 2x the performance over their respective older generation cards.

What was hard to understand with my criticism from my end?

If you can't explain what it is you are typing correctly, save us the hassle so we don't have this problem again as you clearly cannot see how you have presented what you have said.

Communication matters, what you present gets interpreted. Stating what you mean leaves less to the imagination.

Thank you.

Stop trolling and starting learning how to apply basic comprehension and civil manners. Sorry you haven't yet learnt how to interpret correctly or be civil. You know it is quite possible to ask for clarification as to what someone writes rather than be rude and arrogant

Yes sorry I am not a psychic.
I am glad to be called a troll as it is always the last resort.

I am smarter than you. This is not arrogance.
All you can claim is some claim of not being civil.
Intelligence is a word. It has meaning and valid usage.
Apparently if we say one is smarter. We get pissy.
If a guy is fatter or stronger we just accept it.

This is the problem we have with lesser minded people.

They don't even understand how one could claim one's self as Intelligent. Like some kind of taboo.

Literally this style of interaction. Plain words on a forum calls for the use of intellect. Explaining yourself and making things clear even simpler so others can understand.

I won't coddle you. Most here are adults. Suck it up

Your last line is true about clarification. I am likely overexposed to dumbassery. There are no limits on the Internet and it causes major frustration.

Well my situation at the moment is not that great either.

Perhaps a good idea for me is to take a break.

I can see our misunderstanding.

Thanks. Have a good night.

So is anyone else that has just bought a top-tier 3000 series card (3080/3080Ti/3090) planning on skipping 4000 series? Hopefully i'll be able to hold the temptation for 2 years with my 3080 that I just purchased for £1250.

According to Nvidia's GPU roadmap the 5000 series would be released sometime in 2024. That's only 2 years away. If the 4000 series is good just imagine what the 5000 series would be like. I'm sure it will be much more power efficient to begin with as there are rumors 4080+ cards will require a 1000Watt PSU.

Let's imagine these forums 2 years from now. Would you wait for 5000 series or plan to go straight to 4000 in September and sell your top-tier 3000's for nickels on the dime in a mad rush to get a Lovelace card?

I thought you use amd

How about skip 4000 series and buy AMD 7000 series. Don't know if I can believe this performance and these price points.

(For me) it doesn't matter how much power it has if it doesn't do Gsync unfortunately

no real reason for anyone to buy a 4000 series card if they have a 3080 and it does eveything they want

but if you feel you need more just spend the cash

Thanks, I think I was on the money then saying the semiconductor shortage should be over as the 5xxx should release at the end of 2024.

Yes hopefully by then things are back to some normality, but the 40 series is heading for another mess and even then the 50 series may face the same issues as these new fabs are not even built yet and some are still not even at the planning stages, they take at least 5 years to produce anything from the start of building and really can take longer depending on the fab.

Also with these world issues we have right now we have no idea what will end up happening thanks to all this.. If we end up in "WW3" as some are saying, well we have better things to worry about than gpus by then.

I think it's a given that 4000 series will be massively more power efficient than 3000 series with the move from Samsung back to TSMC. People are saying they'll stay away because they'll be "power hungry", but that will only be if pushed to the limit. There will be more performance for less power, comfortably.
