Skipping gears

I don't think some gear boxes would allow 1st to 3rd on the same clutch pull... Can't remember. On the down I often webt from top gear and stomp all the way down to first on one pull. Often you stomp all the way down and it'll go no further but you're not always in first. Go to pull away from the lights and "hang about!"

You have a slipper clutch Benji,no need to worry about wheel lock, works great aswell

Oooh! That's great to know :D I'll have a read up on slipper clutches later.

On the 8 year old fazer or what ever it was I learnt on that probably didn't so likely why I was told not to skip down gears though.

I still find it completely baffling that many riders make no attempt whatsoever to rev match when changing down the box on a bike. It's so incredibly easy to do, just a small blip of the throttle and the tyre loading is hugely reduced.

Only time I go DOWN the gears is when I'm braking to a stop, heh heh!! :D

I also "live my life a quarter-mile at a time", but we'd best not talk about that here...

On a 600cc IL4 sports bike you really don't need a slipper clutch for road use, you'd have to be properly cack handed (footed?) to lock it up. The big capacity V-twins can benefit for road use though as they have so much engine braking.

My zx10r has one, comes in handy

You don't really lock the wheel unless your super aggressive and late on the braking/changing down, most it does is twitch/squirm a little

Yh I can imagine the v twins would do it more
