I know it wont waterproof it but the area is unlikely to get wet really. Its near a sink but i'd need to be VERY messy and clumsy with water for water to get on it and i'd be more naffed about getting water over the worktops!

I think i'll just risk it for now as I can't justify spending £40 on a sheet of marine ply for such a tiny job or i'll wait till I can poach some off a friend haha!

Such a shame B&Q killed off most of the proper timber yards. Used to be easy to pop along to a place and ask them for an offcut.
