Skoda Superb III 4x4 280 - A sleeper’s journey – 280ps to 560ps

Just out of interest what was the cost like compared to say buying a RS6? As the Skoda must be pretty similar if not better performance.

Much cheaper than buying a brand new RS6. Used ones without, or very little, warranty I cannot compare as the cost of fixing the RS6 engine out of warranty would be much, much, more than the 2lt in my car. Also an RS6 cannot be considered a sleeper imho.

Pretty sure it has that without sticking the wrong badges on it!

Bonus sleeper status yo? :p

I like the idea to be honest... Its like people who take an E30 325i, stick a M52 turbo/V8/V10 in it, and then put a 316i badge on the back. It adds an element of hilarity to it, and makes it look even less special from the outside.

Before I did I had hot hatches and other cars trying to race me, maybe because of the look of the exhaust and the boot spoiler?

After the tdi badge nobody bothers me which is great as most days I have the family with me.

Also it is a fun conversation starter at Santa Pod and car shows :)

5.4s to 62mph stock is really impressive, at 1550kg I didn't know these were that quick, Impressive bit of coin has been put in to this car.

You sir, you are a legend.

The only thing I'm not a huge fan of (in this particular instance) is the Pro Race 1.2 wheels. But they are just the winter set right? :)

You mean the badges I assume? They are original VAG group ones but of course I understand if not your cup of tea, we cannot all agree all of the time :)

Black badges and wind deflectors on the windows just look 'orrible to me. But as you say, different tastes and all :)

Of course, without diversity the world would be a boring place :)

Probably does not matter but the badges are from Skoda too from another car's Black edition model and the wind deflectors keep wind and light rain out when I want to drive with the windows down and enjoy the exhaust note. Most things I installed are functional too, not just for looks.

No, sold the original wheels, far too heavy. These are the Summer wheels for the drag strip and road (with semi slicks). I have another set of 3rd party wheels with Winter tyres for when it gets cold.
And a third set of, budget, alloys with summer tyres just for the dyno (will have to be used for many days when the new turbo is installed) as both the semi-slicks and winter tyres are too soft for repeated dyno runs.

It's all about functionality. If I wanted looks I could have gone with 19/20 inch alloys and slammed suspension but this is not what this car is about.

I do very much appreciate all comments and opinions, it is things that I also considered many times during the last year!
