Skt A Memory Upgrade

My father has an Skt A computer. Its an AMD 2500 Barton CPU and 1GB of memory installed. The Mobo is an Asus A7N8X-E. I have some spare memory I would like to upgrade him to maybe 1.5Gb or even 2GB.

Would his system take the memory upgrade?

He as XP Pro running as his OS as well

Ofcoarse it will, I ran 2GB (2x1GB) of Corsair PC3500 at 500mhz in that mobo.

It won't make too much difference that there 2 different brands, will it? There both running at the same speed of PC3200 :confused:

It may not run in Dual channel mode, prob will if as Bios is probably set to Auto (may have diff Timings)

Assuming all sticks of RAM (assuming EVEN number of sticks, here) are capabled of running at a given speed, there should not be any trouble with running dual channel...

In this day and age we're all used to buying twin packs of DIMMs, but in the infancy of the NF2 chipset, it was perfectly possible to buy two sticks of RAM from completely different suppliers and have it work together, assuming the same settings/capabilities.
