SKT775 Processor

I currently have a PC which uses a Gigabyte P35 DS3P Motherboard and an old Celeron D 2.8GHz Processor and 2GB DDR2 Ram.

I am looking to upgrade this a little by replacing the processor and upgrading the ram to minimum of 4GB.

I have considered a 2nd hand Q6600 processor but would like your opinion on whether I'd be better off getting something like the 3.2GHz Pentium Dual Core E6700 or the Core 2 Duo 2.93GHz.

What would you go for? The computer won't be used for any video editing or anything, just as an office pc but I want the most speed for my money.

get a E6600 or similar from the members market

a e5400 would be more than enough for you.
you don't need more than 2gb of ram if your just doing using it as a office pc.

but E6600 I saw was cheaper.

How about a celeron E3200, can be had from OCUK for £30 or so new.

Not really looking for another celeron to be honest. Looking for something that will make the computer cope with whatever gets thrown at it.
