Just a heads up to you guys

i work in sales at BT :)

and if your line is gona cost you £124.99 to get installed because its a new line, and your also wanting sky tv :o

then go tell sky and sky will pay the £124.99 into your sky balance once you get the invoice from BT :D

just my good dead for today :P

Will they still do it if you need to go back to BT to get the sky deal on the internet?
And can you withdraw the money or does it just sit as a credit on your account slowly running down?

Or just get Virgin Media in (assuming you are in a cabled area) and avoid the evil that is BT (and Sky)*

* I know VM are not perfect. This post is ever so slightly tongue-in-cheek :p

I live in a listed building and we arent allowed Virgin Media wires run up the side of the house (I live 3 floors up)
Had to get special permission from the council to get my sky dish, and even then it has to be hidden from view.

wow how crap is that its not like its a permanent alteration to the structure of the house... they could easily be removed again.

i bet they wouldnt say know to one of those creeper plants all over your wall though

Stupid councils. Surely some small, barely visible coax cables are preferable to a satellite dish? Mind you both are easily removable.

u had to hide the dish? :O

Yup its stuck on a pole sticking out on the back of the house, hidden from public view. It wasnt even allowed to be fixed directly to the house, but apparently drilling two holes in and putting it up on a pole is?
Stupid I know.

We got this when we moved in to our place, I can't believe BT charged £124.99 for 10 minutes work to connect a wire :(

I would have thought you would have wanted to hide it from view, the sky dishes look awful stuck outside the front of houses. Don't think anyone can see our sky dish

Although i knew about the deal, when i signed up to sky, they didn't bother telling me about this for obvious reasons. I believe you pay BT the charge, then sky send you a reimbursment form.

Also, as someone already mentioned on the forums, if you need a new bt line but are not signing up to a sky package, it's £29.99 instead of the £124.99 until end of September IIRC.

Anyone know how much BT will charge to fit an extension whilst they are fitting the new line? When i had virgin installed it was supposed to be £75 extra (but £15 cash to the installer seemed to suffice ;))

I'm with virign and sticking with them as ADSL sucks. Until I can get BE that is which is around Oct/Nov this year. Will need to weight the costs up with everything before I move though.

Any links for this?

BT are due to fit a line to my place on Monday and I was informed it would be £124.99
