Hi guys,
I've already posted this on the Sky forums but think its worth posting here too thanks to the wealth of knowledgeable bods on tap. :)

I really hope you may be able to help me with this, and it not to be a knackered box (just bought from ebay) as the guy at Sky just told me..

As the title says, on any sub channels if I try to pause it just shows a "no live pause" message. BBC1 and other free channels work fine. Occasionally it will do that but when hitting backup the screen will freeze and I have to hit the planner button to stop it - but it definitely is not pausing and buffering.

Also I recently had Anytime+ activated and when trying to download anything I get a "recording interrupted" message. It will do this whether the show has fully downloaded or otherwise.

A few key points that I worry may have a bearing on this:

- I bought the box second hand upgrading to an Amstrad drx890-r from an old Tosh that was not anytime+ compatible.
- I do not have an HD subscription but the Tosh was setup with sky as an HD box, as is this
- I have tried a planner rebuild several times
- I have tried a full system reset
- the card matches what sky's systems say, as does the box's serial number.
- I live in a flat with a single feed and have set the box to single feed mode.
- I *think* the pause feature worked before on sub channels on the tosh box. I remember using it very occasionally but could not say if it was used on sub channels or not.

From what I've researched it seems that other people who have had the same issue had fixed it by trying the resets or thier card and box were not paired correctly (surely if the serial number and card number shows the correct numbers on the setup/details menu they will be paired correctly?)

The chap on the phone seemed quite quick to say the box was pooched as soon as I said I'd tried the various resets and rebuilds but it really strikes me odd that the box itself could be faulty under these circumstances and is not anything at Skys end.

Ive had one reply asking about if I have problems with normal live recording and if the problem is on all anytime+ progs and this was my reply.

I've had a quick look and when I try to record a subscription channel live, on the planner it says recorded but the only option I have is to delete. It does not say recording in the planner menu and the red light does not come on as it does on free channels.

It looks also as though timed recordings are not working but need to check some more on that.

Re anytime+ I have tried to download several programs on different says and all have failed with the recording interupted message.

Model is R003.047.29.00P
Version : 4F31A2

I did a forced update so should be the latest version.

Thanks guys.

Everything does point to it being the viewing card being the problem but sky have the same number listed as I have on the card so assume it could not be that...?
I don't have movies or sport but all of my subscription channels work fine.
The guy at sky did seem quick to blame the box and didn't seem interested in it being the pairing.

The card and box need paired together. Give them a phone, tell them you've swapped your box. Give them the Verison number and Serial number from system details and ask them to pair it again.

Do as above. When I had my HD upgrade box everything but the recording and live pause was working. A quick call to sky and it was sorted. It was paired but for some reason the plus subscription wasn't active.

thanks for the replies both. Sky do think that the card and box are paired and when I got them to read out what they had they were the right details.
Could it be that although they show as paired correctly they will need to be re-paired?

When I spoke to Sky the box was paired to the card. Not sure what Sky did but it must have been something they did to the box to authorise the recording function.

Right,
just got off the phone to sky for a third time and finally we are sorted. I suggested the things mentioned on here and eventually got it working. Turns out that there are other settings tied into the account other than the anytime+ and the pairing that were not transferred over by the previous operators.
Chuffed he got it working and very thankful to him that he was happy to go through all the steps and not give up, unlike the other guy on Sunday who was quick to assure me that the box was knackered as soon as I said I had already tried the schedule rebuild and the box was from ebay.
Anyways, thanks again all :)

Have been having no end of problems with my 1TB box these last two weeks. Have an engineer coming out on Monday as it looks terminal.

On a side note though since doing a new software update, the Sky Intro channel has changed to show some new features incoming. The weirdest thing though is that there is the normal woman doing the voiceover but then this dude suddenly sparks up with glib comments like he is the office idiot who has just recorded his voice over the top for a laugh. It sounds truly weird...
