Right just done the unthinkable and gone from Virgin Cable to Sky Broadband I know wrong decision

Anyway forgot my PC does not have a wireless card in it and only 1 phoneline downstairs (cable had access point upstairs)

Will I be able to get a decent speed if I buy a wireless PCI Adapter card for my desktop and if so which ones are good for win 7

And is this my best option as dont want to run network cable all over the house

Any help would be great as only got 24 hours internet left before the switch is complete

I would seriously consider running a cat5 cable upstairs, well worth it if you intend to game.

Wireless is fine for general usage, downloading etc, but if you want to game or file share with other pcs then wired is really the best way to go.

just tested on missus laptop getting 3.48 mb download via sky and 9.48 mb via virgin

The laptop using wireless and virgin network cable directly into desktop

Is there any way if i buy a top wireless card i will get anything like the above virgin result speed wise?

For the record paying for 20mb unlimited on sky

It depends what speed the Sky router is connected at what speed you'll get. Unless there's a lot of interference, you have particularly thick walls or the router's a long distance away it's not going to be the limiting factor here.
