Hi all,

I'm looking at changing my ISP to get monthly charges down a bit.
Sky's max package looks like it could be the one for me.
Anyone care to share their experiences?

Have been using Sky Broadband Max for 1 and a half years and never had a problem.

Never had any down time and always get full speeds. :)

I've had Sky Max for a year and apart from the router which died and was replaced in a few days, never had a problem, with a download speed of 1.4mbps.

ive had sky for years and have only have about 1 week in down time since ive been with them,

ive been with OAL, BT, talktalk, pipex and god no's how many more over the years and do find that sky are the best though currently ive got sky and Virgin in the same house i have to say sky is a lot better

virgin is most enoying with the ping's been too high on peek times of the day, only been with then for 3 mounths and allready had 2 weeks downtime  and top it off you pay for 20mb and only get on average 5mb and spend more time calling there technical support line to give them a good old telling off, only to find that youll have the same problem the day after!

i say keep with sky you may have soom tweaking problems at the start but its well worth it

been with them about 4 weeks now and it's superb. I am currently on G.DMT and getting 850kb/s no problems - solid connection.

Tempted having viewed my line stats to see if i can get sky to bump me to ADSL2 as my line and exchange support it to see if i can get more speeds

go for it - excellent stuff

Thanks.

A quick question - is it possible to use your own router on sky?
Even if it means some kind of hack / password extraction?

If so, anyone got any links.

Thanks.

use this if you have the new Sagem 2054 router from sky - simple stuff. input 2 details and it gives you the username and password.

Did it the other day and works easy. No flashing firmware etc etc etc.

It technically voids sky's T&C's using another router

you can always maintain the T&Cs if you care by using the provided router just as a modem and DMZing it to a cable router.

I am thinking of moving over to Sky from UK Online (they run on the same network as Sky) simply just to save some cash.

I have posted a few questions on the adslguide forums and If I am happy with the responses I will go ahead and request my MAC key from UK Online.

Do you think the switch over would take long since they run on the same network?

about 7 days is fairly standard but i had zero downtime and sky emailed me the minute i got switched over. very impressed with them.
