sky broadband problem

Ive been involved in a nightmare with getting BB up and running through sky, so to cut it short it is finally up now..sort of.
Im connected, no problems. I run P2P software in the background, with evrything downloading happily away, but at random intervals i am unable to surf any web pages.. this can happen for hours on end. But at the same time the P2P application never stops downloading.
Ive checked the dns entries via the router and these are how they should be, im connected via the router which sky have provided...any ideas.

Not that i consider myself a network master but whenever i have a problem like that its invariably on the server side, whereby my ISP are having problems with certain connection types but not P2P, since it doesn't require any network protocols i believe, just piggybacks the connection.

I'd give them a call and ask if everything ok at their end.
