Well if you happened to read my earlier thread’s you gathered I’m in the process of moving over to Sky Max 16Mb. Having received a date for connection 28/4/09, sky router was delivered this morning it has 4 Ethernet ports and you can only use the two yellow coded one’s. To cut it short 3 comp’s + 1 laptop, 4 into 2 won’t go, my present set up is wired connection for various reason’s wifi does not work very well in my house. So I’ve got no option but to use my present router DG834v3 if I can get it to work on SKY Max, can Sky peep’s help me out there if possible or should I buy DG834GT. Sky have also quoted my connection speed to be 3.5Mb at present with BT, I get 5.0 to 5.5Mb it varies little. Can’t see why I don’t get the same or a little bit faster being Sky Max, hope fully take that with a pinch of salt. I’ll let you’s know how I get on with Sky when the big day arrives.

The sky user site is very good, been helpful in the past.
You can use a DG834G with sky. Go to this site to get the username and password from the sky router then put it into your old router.

I would ignore what sky say you can get, it's only a rough estimate taken from a database.
They said I would be able to get 4mb. I'm currently connected at 10mb. :)

Sky Max Update

Well got activated on the 28/4/09 been steady at D/Stream 8+Mb, Upstream 767KB, downloaded a few large file’s from various site’s at average of 840KB. I also pinged a few sites one being BBC got average pig of 63, but when my connection 10 day settling in period is over I will ask Sky for TIER 3 / Max Delays to be set at 8. I will also update you if getting this done make’s that much difference. I’ve just read Oxide’s Thread again) and DAvE18 say’s it’s now called CST but most people in the Sky-User’s forum know it as tier 3, etc.

cheers OLDPHART :) but I had my own Sky thread not too long ago http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17990834&highlight=sky+isp

Anyway it seems we have very similar connection speed. Could you please update this thread once CST sort out your pings. I'm very interested to know if it has any negative effects i.e. it connects you at a slower speed to improve pings (tolien says this might happen)
