I've been without my old ISP for over 3 months now and Sky have shown no signs of resolving the issue, and to top it off, they are billing me £10 for the Max Package which i am not recieving, despite being "shown" as connected at their end.
I'll be cancelling all my Sky subscriptions monday morning and looking for a new ISP. I really hope you dont have the same experiance as i have.
However, if you do manage to get connected, then the service is quite good i've heard.
Trouble is that all the storys you hear, all seem to be poor ones.
They told me that i could have 16mb,then i quered it and they said they could match my current suppliers speed of 10mb,So i had to explain to them that telewest works on a complete diff system,so he checked again and said only 4 mb for me. lol
I LOVE SKY TV.
But
SKY BROADBAND SUCKS(im sorry to say,i will not convert)
Well i have nothing but praise for sky broadband was connected up within 7 days live around 400m's from exchange and download at 1300kb/s (Newsgroups) off microsoft around 800
Have ordered Sky Broadband MAX online for my Nan
Gone from AOL with MAC code etc.
We hope to be online soon but although the 'sky broadband' service package shows up in 'sky shop' online, they haven't shown much sign of acknowledgement (sp lol)
When i was on the phone to sky ordering, if you register your intrest online or through the tv then they dont ring you back now, they said ringing up is the only way to do it
i've just sacked sky and gone back to BT.never got over 5mb despite having to pay £10.but after a rather one sided telephone conversation, ,i did get all my money back.
worst problem with sky was the high pings when online gaming.seldom under 100 on servers where i'm 30-60 with BT.
yep too true spoke to 3 people at sky today and not 1 of them knew what interleaving was then i finally got to speak someguy who said they wont turn it off unless you have a technical problem and gaming is not a technical problem
on a good day i can run at 13Mb, on a bad day, or busy time of day it's running at roughly 11.5Mb, still better than AOHELL. only problem I had was getting the router, sky said that they had sent it out when they hadn't, appart from that no problems.
Sky Max package - 600m from exchange, syncing at 15997 kbps, typical throughput of about 11-12 Mbps. Average 41ms to lowpings.net & 33ms to jolt.co.uk.
finally cancelled mine. ping went through the roof today most 80-120ms, tech support even tried telling me that interleaving is a feature of the router they supply and cant be changed and told me to contact netgear. What a bunch of complete muppets
