sorry for late post, but how do you find out how far away you are from exchange?

i live 4.01km, but when it goes through skys equipment i live 4.5km away. And what a knighmare im having getting them to take it off my line. GGGgggrrrrrr

4-5mb but if you intend playing games dont even think about it because some of there tech support dont even know what interleaving is and some do but will not turn it off

i think this is correct. there are different types of handshake connections the 2 that i know of are interleaving and fastpath. interleaving sends the packets in little packets which makes your connection faster but also in the process adds on average 20-50ms to your ping times. fastpath sends everthing at once but it gives you a slower connection but your ping times are not affected, if i am wrong maybe someone will be able to correct me

hmm. I dont mind playing games at 50-70 ping, what i really would like is speed. Im currently on the 8 mb aol platinum, and i have never gotten over 300 k :(. The websites say my line can support 5 mb. Would sky give me a big boost?

only that no WPA was supplied with or when installing the wireless router

Its on the bottom of the router on the panel.

sam knows is all you need for finding out your distance etc. and our supports getting better still tier1 struggle tho :p

Dave, whether you can help me out or not i dont know, but i've been without Broadband for about 4 months now and neither Sky or BT seem to care, so what options do i have to get a reason or get my order prioritised? :/

If you cant talk about it or whatever, just ignore what i said :p

we have service recovery specialist teams as far as im aware that deal with problem cases.

4 months is extreme I have emailed u.

I know a few people that have jumped at the chance to get sky broadband because of what the sales people are telling them. Not one of them have been happy with what they ended up with. Mostly lies.

My mother in law got told she could have it free. They changed over and then they were sent a bill saying it isnt free.

Then spent about 2hours on there helpline trying to speak with someone. Nice service.

My Nan (:)) has recently switched to SKY MAX, she payed nothing for activation and she only has to pay £10 a month compared to £32 a month with AOL (who were only giving here 2meg down, 256k up).
She is now saving £22 a month and here speeds are : 5.8meg down, 768k up. Pings are also pretty good, 30-50.
We are happy with Sky MAX :)
