We have Sky Plus in our house and I think the package includes broadband. How do we get it to work though. I have just moved in and they havent looked at getting it going for months. The only connections at the back go to dish one and dish 2.

The is a connection that goes to a phone line that says "sky, do not unplug" on it in red writing.

Am i right in thinking we need a filter then an ADSL router? Im not aware of any phone connection in the house but if its ADSL dont you need a BT line too?

Thanks

Yes, you will need a BT phoneline (don't you need one to have sky in the first place?). If it is part of your package then you should have been sent your user details, and they usually provide a router too.

PK!

Not sure, mates have lived in the house since june or july and i have just moved in. Apparently broadband is part of the package but none of them have any clue about internet computers etc. They just got the package for sky sports and recording stuff.
I have seen a wireless router in the front room but i dont think theres any package details or filters etc anywhere.
Damn, though i could just connect an RJ45 cable to the back of the sky box and then into a normal router. are well

You get a separate router for the broadband, it doesn't run through the sky box.

The router is pre-programmed with all the details, just plug it into the phone-line (and as long as you have a BT phone-line and its working etc etc) it just runs.

Is it a white netgear one? Thats the one we've got. Check what its got written on the bottom of it as sky provide ones with the user details hardwired into them so its just a case of plug and go. My non-geeky housemate did the install on ours whilst I was at work, so it must be easy. I was disapointed I didnt get to do it though...

think they have recently changed the router. the parents got one (still netgear) but has similar styling to the sky decoder box (only the router is black).

all the user details are pre-programmed into the router, so you cant go wrong. personally i have found this router to be fairly poor though, and sky dont provide much info about it other than how to set it up.

Broadband is not part of any Sky's packages but if you want broadband you must call then up and request it.

Sky have 3 packages ranging from free, £17 a month and the max package at £10 a month.

See their website for details or call Sky direct.
