Hey all.

For xmas i've decided to get someone a tandem parachute jump. However I'm not sure when to have it, ie, have the jump around xmas, or wait till summer? Obv with summer it's a bit of a long time to wait to use an xmas present. lol.

Surely it's going to be amazing regardless the time of year, i guess you just want good visibility?

Opinions?

summer defiently. 5/6 months isn't at all a long wait in my opinion as they will soon forget they have it and all of a sudden its summer and they are jumping.

also with summer not only is is better visabiltiy etc, but you can make a hell of a day of it, go out do other things, restaurant etc, so you'b be giving them a once in a life time thing, plus helping them in having a really great day, unlike in winter, they will do the jump and probably thats the end of it, funs over.

When to jump = After the plane takes off but before it lands, couldn't be a little embarrassing otherwise :D

Nope Best time is just after the plane has landed and stopped... Jump out and run to the bar!..

Generally when the plane is high up,in the sky. Hence the name "sky-diving".

Jumping out when its on the ground has sore consequences, and makes you look like a retard.

Don't say I didn't warn you.

You forgot to add "after checking you are wearing a parachute".

Btw... skydiving is the best thing in the world ive ever ever done! Did it for my 18th and have to say, although i am scared of heights..... words cannot describe it!

It will be a lot of fun either way, but defo more comfy in the Spring/Summer. Weather is an issue too - you don't want to go out there and sit around all day waiting for a break in the winds.

I haven't been jumping long, but I can tell you that in the Winter you're talking about -20c at altitude. You're not up there all that long though, just a few minutes, so its not all that bad, just a bit brrrr!!.

The advantage to jumping in Winter is much better long range visibility on a clear day - you can see for miles and miles.

I'd recommed two layers of long underwear, two pairs of socks, thick tracksuit bottoms, a few long sleaved tshirts or a good thick sweatshirt, good gloves, and maybe even a balaclava and tight scarf. Thats what I wore and I was fine apart from the tips of my fingers. You'll be given a jumpsuit too. You should be more than comfortable then. You can basically wear anything that won't impede the controls on the tandam masters rig.

Ring the dropzone ahead of heading over, and they'll give you a good idea of what to expect.

Thats an awesome xmas pressie to give anyone, I hope you have a fantastic time :)

Blue Skies
