I set up my Sky connections today, all went very smoothly and I can get speeds of around 1400k, which is better than the 5.5 to 8m that I was told I'd get.

The problem is when trying to receive email using Outlook 2007.

I can send emails fine, no error messages when checking mail, but nothing turns up. If I go to the Sky webmail page, the emails are there.

Is the Sky webmail downloading the emails from the server or is there something obvious that I've missed?

Cheers.

Hi Big Kev. Did you follow the instructions here.

The only thing I can suggest from reading that is to turn SMTP authentication off or on depending on how it is set at the moment.

Ah so they gave you old info?

I had that once. Got a BT broadband line. Got the CD with a little booklet but what number do I put into my router?! One call to BT support later and I'm given the number. Then I spot the number in the booklet, but its not clearly identified as being a number I needed to use.

The new email system requires different set up info, pop.tools.sky.com for example.

Pity they didn't see fit to enclose a simple leaflet with the set up box.

Cheers for your help mate.:)

had the same issue when i joined, called cs but they were muppets, at least its a lot faster than being on bt's network.

as a side note when i joined sky bb i found these links helpfull

http://dg834gt.mognuts.com/NetgearRouterUtility.html (enebles you to change any router settings, gdmt, snr level etc)

http://www.draytek.co.uk/support/kb_vigor_linefaults.html (shows how to drop the ringwire from the bt master socket, i got a lot less interference by altering my snr and doing this and Gained an extra three megs of speed)
