Good evening I am going to be upgrading to Sky fibre on the 12th of this month and was wondering what the best vdsl modem for around £100. I know the sr102 isn't great

Stick with the SR102 until you are sure you need to upgrade.

I tried various other options but the most reliable and stable in terms of overall performance/speed/wifi etc was the SR102.
 
thanks guys have any of you had the SR102 if so how much different is it from the SR101 From what i have read online it is supposed to be an atrocious modem, that is why i am looking to change it
 
I didn't have a problem with it at alll. Good wifi throughout the house and no issues on 40/10 fibre. However in common with most ISP supplied routers it doesn't have advanced features like guest network or QoS. It's not dual band either only 2.4GHz.

I echo MissChiefs thoughts and personally found the SR102 to be more than acceptable. No issues in relation to the VDSL modem, only used wifi for my phone and ipad, there were no issues in relation to range or speed.

Any gaming was done on my PC through an ethernet connection and pings were consistently low and stable.
 
Seems too much faff to me trying to swap with an all in one with the dlm etc.
If the wifi is a bit weak for you just use any wifi n router connected to the sr102.
 
hhmmm a little disappointed at the min nearly a 50% speed drop with my ADSL2+ was getting 21mbs now only getting 12-14mbps im not sure whether it is until the modem stabilizes or not but i will be on the phone to them tomorrow to see whats going on with it hopefully on the 12th i will get full speed with Fiber.

If anyone got any advice on how to sort out the big drop til then i would be very greatful
 
That doesn't sound right at all with just a modem swap.mwhen does your fibre go active? Are you absolutely sure your setup is correct? Filters etc?
 
yeah set up plenty in the past everything as it was im out at the min but when i get back i will post some screens i thinking of switching back to the white modem until the 12th i was getting better speeds with that
