sky HD broken

Have you tried deleting all the deleted programmes before doing a planner rebuild? Mine had slowed down to a crawl with minimal remote response until I did this. Also I've noticed if the box gets hot it slows down as well so check the airflow and dust build-up.

Yeah tried all of that.

My box has gone pear shaped also !
No program synopsis, channel unavailable, no signal, broken series links etc...
My box states there is only one feed and not two.
When I swap the sat cables around I have no feeds at all
cable 1 > input 1 = good signal
cable 1 > input 2 = no signal
cable 2 > input 1 or 2 = no signal
so possibly cable 2 not working and input 2 not working.

This seems to have happened over the last 6 weeks sometime and have done the usual things to restart / force update etc..with no success.

Tried the wifi box from upstairs today downstairs and it works fine, signal for both inputs.
Bit of a strange one really considering the above !
Anyone able to shed some light - apart from "get a new box"

Also just tried the box from downstairs in the bedroom upstairs it worked perfectly....now I'm really confused !
edit - now the box originally from downstairs is working again downstairs.
What the hell is going on ?

I'm experiencing this too.

We originally had an issue where hardly any HD channels would work (saying no signal) and we had to resort to the SD channels. It was after a particularly bad storm, and I had a hunch that it may have something to do with it. I was getting very fed up so was thinking about getting a 2nd hand box off the 'bay to try and sort it, but out of the blue a Sky engineer came to the flats and replaced something, as one of two others had complained of a similar issue - that is fine now but the planner bug is affecting us now.

I called Sky last week as I upgraded to Fibre and he asked if all the other services were OK - I mentioned the planner/series link bug and he advised me to call Sky on 03442 411 411 - I assume this a number for their technical engineers.

I'm convinced most of Sky's issues revolve around their insistance to have all of their boxes running the same software where the older boxes ar ejust not up to the job any more.
We had nothing but problems with our HD box - however on inspection it was an old Samsung box dating from somewhere around 7 years ago.
I purchased one of the latest boxes as a refurb (not the one with the built-in WIFI, the equivelant without) and since I've installed that it has been 100% perfect - best £65 I've spent.

But knowing how terrible are old box was, I feel for those still with issues.

Had the planner bug, full cold power off and reboot fixed it for me. Took about 20mins after reboot though before it was working.

Mine has gone pear shaped again after downloading TopGear in HD on Sunday.
Not saying that's the cause but that's how it happened - no signal, no synopsis, only ITV working etc...
Seems to be ok now though.
I have just bought a little media player (KODI) so hopefully get rid of the sky if the missus can do without watching all the dramas - Sky EPG is first class and not having that will drastically change her viewing habits.

Odd. A properly working box should be up and running/responding within 4 - 5 minutes.

I had no idea this was a common problem until I saw this thread. I've had terrible problems with my very old Samsung box for months which finally came to a head a couple of weeks ago when I got fed up with restarting it at least twice a day. I called Sky and told them I was going to just get a cheap freeview box because I was fed up with all the problems.

They sent me a nice shiny new 2Tb box to keep me but they didn't mention this known problem at all. Hopefully the new box won't suffer so much.
