Just wondering if anyone knows how to do this?

Basically im trying to find out if there is a way to rig up some cables, or buy some sort of transmitter to allow me to watch sky in my room but using the only Sky box, situated in the lounge.

Theres of course Sky multiroom but dont really fancy paying an extra tenner a month and be forced to watch the same channel as the lounge TV.

I have also seen some transmitters that basically do the multiroom set up but i was wondering if there was a way to be able to watch different channels at the same time?

Im sure there must be a way

If you don't mind watching the same channel as the lounge it's not too difficult to just get a signal splitter and run it up to your room.

As for different channels, well, if there was any way apart from Multiroom then it would most likely be illegal, and result in thread closure.

If you're serious about getting your own box I highly recommend you go with multiroom.

multiroom means having a 2nd box in another room and another cable from the sat, you don't have to watch the same channel. Not sure if they still do it but there is some crappy transmitter thing they do that transmits the same picture its doing to the tv, with that you do have to watch the same channel but you can use a 2nd remote to change the channel through the receiver/transmitter. A friend down the road had one, useless for families wanting to watch different things, just fight over the channels, but useful if you're the main one watching and just want the convieneance of watching in an alternate room while cooking, in bed, whatever, saves paying £10 a month for a second box.

I use a video sender from a well known high street catalogue shop to send sky through to my bedroom. Be sure and get a model with an IR sender so that you can use your Sky remote. If you want to watch a different channel then Multiroom is the only way.

Sky Multiroom means you have another box in another room and you can watch completely different channels than in the other room, you don't have to watch the same thing.
