Hi folks, I was switched over to Sky LLU this morning (no outage to speak of either, very surprised). Sky have estimated my connection speed to be 19mb but as DLM hasn't kicked in yet I'm stuck on 4mb, any idea when the the line testing starts?
you wont be capped at 4mb for the full 10 days.
you will see the speed increase quite drastically after a day or two, then you will see smaller increases in the speed over the remaining days as the DLM system tries to 'optimize' your line speed.
note: the DLM will adjust you speeds from around 2am when it scans you router to get performance stats...dont turn your router off at any point, but im sure you already knew that

Heard a lot of horror stories about Sky and the service they provide so will be watching to see your experience with them. My exchange hardly has any LLU in it though Sky and TalkTalk are in there so I am sat on just 8Mb so have been debating on moving over to Sky Broadband.
Stoner81.

Its not 10 days.you'll be capped to 4mb for 10days whilst it tests then it'll be normal
Explain!? lol.I also got them to put me on the gamer profile for better ping which has helped some.

Explain!? lol.
Because i get sub 40ms in WoW but 75-150 in BC2.![]()
Still wouldnt mind knowing what this 'gamer profile' is.What you see in BFBC2 is latency value, not ping.

Its not 10 days.
I've been with Sky for about 20 days now and after 3 days of 4Mb, it started training. Went from 4/0.5 to 16/0.5 to 16/1 to 19/1 to 19.98/1 to 19.98/1.15 and its stabilised there. It did the speed increases in the early hours of the morning.

About my only complaint with Sky LLU is that if i use any HTTP download, im lucky to get about 8-12meg out the line, but a download of an Ubuntu live CD or off MS gives me a full 17-19 meg out of it. Im convinced theres something dodgy going on, because as a result, my PS3 takes AGEs to download anything compared to the time it should take.
That and speedtest.net gives me awful results compared to what it should be.

They already are, makes no difference.Manually set your PS3 DNS servers to public ones (Google etc) and your problem will go away. This is a known problem.
A few yes. Not a lot of difference tbh.Your download speed is probably being capped by the actual servers. Have you tried a HTTP download from a site with known good bandwidth? ATI.com?
in the process of making the move because I was stuck on 8mb. BT are being arsy about our MAC code though...
depending on your line stats when the DLM finishes it may be worth ringing sky to get them to squeeze a bit more speed for you.
