Hi,

been on there service for about 5 months and it's been excellent. I called them tonight to ask if I could get the download speed limit lifted or put my line into retraining mode. As they have set my download speed limit to 6144kbps. They tested my line and said I should only be getting 4Mb (got nearly 8Mb on O2 LLU).

My connection is rock solid and drops about once a month. ping test results are good also

does anyone have any experience in getting them to put the line back in training mode, or is there some one there who is more sympathetic and likely to do it?

They said they could not do that with my connection as it would likely drop connections more, even though its not showing any problems with the current connection speed.

If there's nothing I can do i'll just have to move closer to the exchange

Strange that your modem states g.dmt when it seems to be running adsl2+ (given the higher upload speed).

It also looks like that with your SNR at 6.8 you are basically running as fast as you can. Sky aim for 7 SNR.

Not exactly sure what a 46db attenuation normally gives but wouldn't have thought it would be much more. Maybe o2 allowed a lower SNR.

I've set the modem to only run on g.dmt

for some reason I get a better upload speed if I leave ADSL2 and ADSL2+ unticked.

I'll have to live with it then, unfortunately I've not got any stats for the modem when it was on O2

Just phone up sky support hope you get a good tech, and request DLM to be enabled on the line.

Looking at your stats you can possibly reach 8.5mbit or 8mbit, Sky pretty much always lowers your speed by 1mbit to increase stablity on the line but with a push you can ask them to raise it. Though you may experience stablity issues depending on the quality of your line.
