Fair warning I work for them so this isn't a sales pitch but when I've been mentioning Sky Mobile to friends out with work I'm getting blank stares or confusion most of the time and am finding it difficult to get anyone to consider changing.

So, what are your thoughts? Did you know of Sky mobile? Did you know they use the O2 network? Did you also know that sky TV customers get free, unlimited calls and texts? Only pay for data and if you don't use all your data it rolls over for up to three years?

Basically did you know of it and would you ever consider changing? They also do handsets with swap 12 or swap 24 options so you can, if necessary, swap your phone every year by returning the phone for credit against the loan of the phone and getting a new one every year. Were you aware of this?

did I know they existed; no
o2 suck so no I wouldn't consider changing.
until anyone matches three for data I also wont be moving. 5gb for £20 bahhhaahhhaa

£49 quid a month for 5gb! (With an S7) and no EU roaming :p

I pay £30, with 10gb uk + EU roaming, samsung s7 and spotify with that too. Horrible pricing

I saw the TV advert today. That was the first I'd heard of it.

I've just had a look.

SIM only £15 gets me
12 month contract :/
3gb
And pay as you go for calls and texts. All on the O2 network...

Seems like an awful deal.

For £15 on EE you get...
Best 4g coverage.
No contract
4gb
Enough free calls and texts.
An extra £500 mb added on to my data every 3 months.

Think I'll skip thanks :p

Do you use all 4gb data? What happened to that data if you only use 2? It's lost most likely? Or if it carries over, for a month or two?

Your being ripped off bee!
Am only paying £9 per month with Three for 5Gb of Data including unlimited texts and minutes

Misschief - Agree theres a lot of peeps that don't know about Sky mobile. Think they should concentrate on the data bundles as thats where most people I know tend to flock to - The tarrif that gives them the most amount of data for minimal outlay.

I pay £25 a mth unlimited everything and 20gb of data which includes 4gb if roaming data on Vodafone plus premium Spotify.

So no I wouldn't change my provider unless I get all the above for less than what I'm paying now.

At the moment, no provider can match what I have for less than what I pay.

As for sky mobile, yes I've seen the adverts on sky tv of course. Having looked at their tariffs, not interested.

We've been pushing them for more data but they keeping banging on that something like 60% of customers never use all their data anyway and 50% don't use more than 3GB. I've thought our tariffs weren't that hot a few times as well. Interesting food for thought.

Nope, that's the sky price im on three unlimited data +30Gb tethered for 25ish. I wouldn't even use my 1 month of alowence for photo e or texts in an entire year. Data on the other habdvaries so much. But only hit the 30gb tethering once.

Vodafone has just changed their polcies, allowing all your data to be used roaming now. Which is incredible for me, as I spend most of my time away from the UK.

Yes I pre registered.

Too expensive, not enough data, I use my data within the EU & the last time I used 6gig. So switching is a no go for me.

I pay just under £39 a month for unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, 40gig of Data all can be used in the EU & 24 months BT Sport, Sky Mobile can come nowhere near that.

£40/m gets you 40GB of data on Voda these days along with all the extras :s I'm currently paying £13/m for 8GB after the previous £20 for 20GB deal ended (and got spotify included in there to boot - not a deal I'm gonna get again any time soon - goes up after the contract length :( ).

Sky Mobile's 12 month upgrade tariff's seem to be purpose built to deceive. Upgrade after 12 months but pay for another 6 and then something or other extends for another 12 months, perhaps, but you can't quite tell without reading it several times.

I work for a direct competitor and the general opinion internally is O2 must be giving you a hell of a discount for what they are providing (also a bit of eye-brow raising about going with O2 right now too) and your pricing is either high to prevent huge initial overload or you may have mis-read the market changes going on this year.

This is sorta true (it varies massively by age from the recent metrics i have seen) but it's about perception of value more than anything in mobiles. As Sky have a very decent marketing department this leads me to think it's calculated deliberately to be an average deal rather than ignorance of the customer demands.

Sounds logical. Probably not aimed at high end users like many of the people on these forums. I imagine older generation with less data demands and want "all the services from one provider". Hence the discount for existing customers.

It's about ticking a box just like Virgin mobile.

What seemed odd to me in the TV ads was they talk about the contract period being one length (e.g. 24months) but the small print at the bottom of the screen during the advert seemed to say that the deal was equivalent to a loan over a longer period?

I would go for Sky however i can get 25% off virgin mobile through friends and family, so works out cheaper for me otherwise, i would be going to sky mobile in june.
Any chance of some discount Misschief?
