Hi all.
I'm with Sky at the moment and i'm moving house on the 19th and have booked a call back to speak to someone about the services we want to move/apply to the new house.

I was wondering if there is any strategy i should go in with or any deals i should ask for?

Here's the info:

Currently have:
Sky+ HD (500Gb Box)
F1 HD included free
Entertainment Extra
Broadband unlimited (ADSL2+)

Want to have:
Dish installation
Sky+ HD
F1 HD
Entertainment Extra
Sky Fibre
Sky Multiroom (x1)

I was wondering what to expect cost wise and what to "haggle" for if i am able to.
Also, was wondering if i could upgrade to the new 2Tb box and use the current Sky+ HD box as the multiroom box?

Any advice appreciated.

if your contract is up, just put in your 30 days notice funnily enough 30 days before the date you move out.

then sign up in the new house as a new customer online through quidco.

And then he WON'T get F1 in HD unless he also takes Sky Sports in HD. Potentially increasing the amount he has to pay massively.

See what they say really. Ask about a 2TB box and your existing box as a Multiroom, TBH I wouldn't mention Fibre, say BT Infinity is available and you should get Fibre half price for 6 months and free activation.

Do NOT get sucked into Entertainment Extra+ as you will LOSE F1 in HD.

One of bargaining points is going to be "I'm having F1 HD for free". I don't want Sky Sports as i only watch motorsport.

The house i'm moving into has Virgin media wired up to the lounge and bedroom and they're leaving a box behind. I think i will start there?

Will i have to pay extra (£50 standard set-up) to get Fibre installed then? Even though i'm an existing customer. Eeek, will definitely try and bargain there!

Got the Fibre activation fee dropped and also 6 months half price.
Went for multi room and bought the new 2TB box for £49.
So £71 per month for 6 months the £81 afterwards.

compare that with

yes i dont have fibre, but i do have full movies, full sports, 3d, sky go extra, entertainment extra +, talk unlimited and line rental.

i also bought a sky+ hd 500gb drx890 box and a wireless connector off gumtree for £25 altogether for the multi-room sub and then got another wireless connector for free from sky due to movies package.

also a possible £293 cashback through quidco on top as they had a really good offer on at the time. new customer's always get the best deals.

^ Nice, new customers do indeed get good deals.
I assume the movies and sports is on 12months then you have to pay full?

There was very little opportunity to bargain when i was on the phone with them, they played hardball. Still, very happy with what i got :) will see how well i gets implemented before i give my final verdict.

there is usually zero point in arguing or haggling with anyone over the phone, you tell them straight, either give me as good a deal as what new customer's receive right now or you can effectively take this as my 30 day notice.

after 12 months, im going to turn around and say, look i wont be able to afford full price for the package, take this as my 30 day notice.

if the offer me the same package for the same price i will keep it or i will join Virgin Media through quidco as a "new customer" taking advantage of their half price offer and huge "new customer" cashback and money off bill schemes.

it pay's to shop around every time your contract is up, as you can see from the above deal, i was previously with VM, who tried to get me to stay with them on 3 different phone calls, but i said to them give me a better deal than what sky are offering or go away.

they couldnt match it, because i wasn't a "new customer" and my offer had expired.

new customer's are on so much better deals it's ridiculous to stay loyal to one company.

with BT now in the picture, im hoping for even more fierce competition, with even better new customer offer's next time around.

so i should have more ammunition next time around to bargain with as well.

The annoying thing is, i cant shop around really as sky have 3 things i want.

1. Sky Atlantic HD
2. Sky F1 HD
3. Non-Manipulated broadband (blocking and throttling)

And Virgin have only 2 things i like

1. Generally cheaper
2. Not having to give Murdoch any money.

I will however in 12 months, see if they call my bluff or not by saying that i can get a better deal with Virgin and see what happens.

1. I get around that using torrents (yes i know i'm a bad boy), you get to see your shows quicker, in HD and whenever you want.
2. BBC has half of them anyway do they not? the other half you could stream online (yes i know, it's bad), but what else can you do?
3. Virgin Media's Broadband is so fast even when it is throttled it's still faster than the competition, afaik they dont really block anything. Also there is a limit you have to breach before you get throttled, you have to be a really heavy user to breach this limit and even if you do you still get half the speed, so on 120MB you would still get 60MB, which is still 6 times faster than what I can currently get from Sky, so i don't see why people really complain tbh.

both companies have their advantages and disadvantages i will give you that, but i wouldn't stay loyal to one company unless i really thought it was worth it.

or you could do a deal with a mate/relative and borrow their sky go ID for F1? even give them say £5 a month for the privilege?
