The Indian subcontinent has never really been big on sport outside of cricket and hockey.
Football is growing in east-Asia though, korea seems to be doing ok, and China has just started getting very interested. So I expect there will be more in time. East-Asia does tend to be a lot more inwards facing though - China in particular - so I doubt they'll ever be one of the bigger imports into the premier league.
