Phoned up sky with my letter of 75% off skyworld and 75% off HD mixes for 12 months with £50 credit offer of coming back to Sky and took the deal as they offer me 75% off skyworld full packages and 75% off HD mixes as both on 75% discount for 12 months as I am now paying £15.81 a month instead of £63.25 per month and they put £50.00 credit on my sky account too. So, I won't be paying for the first three months, pay just £13.24 on the fourth month then £15.81 a month thereafter. Nice one sky! :)

Don't anyones had the letter too as I was without sky for 6 months and got surprise letter. Letter is called "Sky Flyer 75".

I've had the same 75% off letter 3 times from then now since leaving them.
I'll be moving back in with the fiance shortly so will take up their offer as she quit with them too, altbhough she hasn't had any letter as of yet and we both quit sky at the same time.

I got a similar deal last month, £50 credit, 75% off the Sky World package for a year plus £10.50 for HD.

You can only get the deal if you were previously a Sky Customer and you received the flyer in the post. There was a big thread on hduk about it.

Would love to get rid of Sky but don't have any alternative other than free-to-air.

It is quite interesting when you phone them up and tell them you're leaving - you can get some really quite good deals if you're cheeky enough. I got extra channels for free, free HD box and free re-installation, all for basic Sky+ subs.

They sent me loads of offers like this when I moved out of an old flat, that was nearly 2yrs ago now though and they've given up I think.

New place I'm getting in June is wired for Sky though so I might try my luck with their Customer Services and see what I can blag...

It's not being cheeky. They're still making money on you or they wouldn't offer it to you. In reality it is Sky that are being underhand *****.

It's the same with all contract services, you know, you phone them up and ask for a better deal they say you already have the best they can offer, you then threat to cancel and all of a sudden they have a better deal available. It's something the government should clamp down on because afaic it's basically fraud.

I expected letters like this when i left Sky since i was spending around £96 a month with them. However since moving to Virgin i've not heard anything.

The ironic thing is i get letters from Virgin trying to tempt me to become i customer when i already am!

You probably ought to understand what fraud is first.

Agreed, i'm not quite sure how reducing prices for some customers is classed as fraud. Its just their pricing strategy, i think the concept is called Price Discrimination where you have different prices depending on what customers are willing to pay

I know, tell me about it, sky is very crafty give a better deal if you left sky 6 months ago even thought others doesn't get any letters at all. I think it down to how long you been with sky customer for ? Mine since 2007.

I was surprised that sky did send me the offers as i have a friend who got both myself and my fiance 'friends and family' codes, which gave us both full install of hd boxes and all channels for half price for 12 months. At renewal time, we both cancelled our contracts, as we didin't want to pay £81pcm. I went to VM she went onto freeview.
So Sky didn't really get much money out of us ...... ye they want (me at least) back.

Got one of those cards today offering me 75%.

So decided to take it (except movies) including HD pack which you don't get the discount on for £22.12:) and free ESPN for three months plus £50 added into sky account, far better than the £63 i was paying:eek:

I think we are going to cancel it altogether.

We already have freeview and tbh we both agree that as a family we watch way too much TV and it's costing us 300€ per year (SKY ireland) for the basic package I don't feel we get our monies worth.

We cancelled our Sky about a year ago now, we also got all those promotional letters including the 75% one and even that wouldn't tempt me to return to their 20 minutes of adverts every hour service. Considering there's other services available (such as Netflix ) at a vastly cheaper price than the extortionate rates Sky charge I can honestly say we certainly don't miss Sky and we'll never return to them!

I cancelled it a few months back and they called me up to ask if I would try the full package for 3 months free so I did. That ends at the end of Sept so I cancelled it again at the end of August to give them the 30 days notice.

TBH UK TV is crap. The stuff I watch is from the US with the occasional bit of UK which I can get on FreeSAT.
