Sky ping, may be looking to change.

Ah MER is a bit of a pain. Not sure if there's a way to spoof MAC addresses and get a third party router connected via MER.

So the slow latency might not be related to the line and more to do with Sky'd network but I'd certainly be concerned with your stats.

If you are getting that in the test socket then it might be worth monitoring the line speed with routerststatslite and look for changes in noise margin and errors, if it supports your router. I can't help thinking that you may have an issue with your line, possibly with the lower end of the frequency range. It could have course be a problem with your router and for this reason I might be tempted to shove any old asdl modem router on the line and compare Sync rates and noise margins between the two. You won't be able to get a PPP session with an alternate router but it should Sync with the exchange ok.

Also do all the usual stuff like swapping microfilters, testing without a telephone or other voiceband device on the line. Just basically make sure you aren't causing the drop in expected speeds and you can get Openreach out to investigate. Just because Sky say there isn't a problem doesn't mean there is no problem.

Thanks for this, will test the microfilters now etc.

As I've said I think this is a router (modem specifically) issue, you really need to try another one. If it doesn't clear the fault I'd be booking a fault out to Openrech via Sky to get the line checked.

Sky are sending me out a router free of charge although it will take 5 days to come. I will check open reach as my mate works for them. Might give him a call. As said before though mate, i cannot use a different router as i dont have my username and password to log on. Iv tried this so many times because i have tons of routers at work.

Iv created a monitor, although it says that it only works on Static lines?

Will check out the link. Thanks.

Admittedly it does look quite congested in the evening, especially between 9-10pm (were you downloading or streaming?). I'd still be tempted to try another router; the 2-4 s pings you were getting shouldn't be caused by congestion alone IMO.

The router is a sagem F@ST2504n (the grey top, black/blue bottom) one.

It is a MER connection.

Thanks.

Use the link previously provided, extract your router's username and password, then grab another router and put that in.

I have the exact same Sagem crap router as you from Sky, I swapped it out for an ASUS DSL-N55U, runs great.

No mate, if anything i was just on Ventrillo talking for around 10 mins due to having a ping of 2000:(. Thanks.
