My Sky TV package has been £27

Sky Entertainment £22.00
Sky HD £5.00

I checked my bank account and £34.20 has automatically been taken.

Logging into my Sky account I can see the price have changed

Sky Entertainment £28.20
Sky HD £6

I did not agree to this, surely they cannot just up the monthly prices £7.20 without telling you?! That's a 27% increase on their basic TV package

Is there a similar freeview or other service that offers channels like Comedy central? Virgin Media is not available in my area.
I'm tempted to cancel as this sort of thing really annoys me

Where you on an X month contract which just expired and they moved you to base rate?

I thought they needed to inform you though?

They usually do tell you by whatever communication options you have ticked.

I can't complain, since they stopped billing for Sky Sports my last bill was £15.63

I can see from my online account in August my billing is going back to £50/mo, so I'll need to cancel in July. They don't hide their future billing.

Before any price rises they should have sent you either an email or letter to inform you.

When they do this you have the right to renegotiate or cancel the contract, even if there's X amount of time left on it, as they're changing the terms.

You'll generally get the best results by cancelling, I'd assume you'll have to give a months notice, before the cancellation goes through you'll probably receive a call back from their retention's team and they'll offer you a better offer than you're likely to get via normal negotiating.

so why don't you.
 Did you read the thread? ...because then we wont have channels like Comedy central and Virgin media is not available in ourr area

We have Amazon Prime for Prime Video. Do Amazon offer any TV services?

edit.
Well, that was sorted easily
Called Sky and the Entertainment package no longer exists. Its call the 'Signature' bundle now which is Entertainment plus box sets.

This was £29 + £6 for HD

An offer appeared dropping the signature bundle to £23 and HD to £3... so im it's now cheaper for 18 months plus I get boxsets

Could always go through NowTV (which is actually run by Sky)...however it's entirely reliant on your internet. IMO, if you have the internet capability, it's a no brainer, you pay a far lower cost per month but with a few drawbacks such as no true HD or 4K.

Call them up from your corner sofa and explain that paying extra to view Sky on your 85-inch budget TV that the neighbours scoff at through your sitting room window is unacceptable.

Thanks all. NowTV looks like a good option for XX months down the line if Sky change their prices again.
Does this just run through internet so would need a laptop / ipad or something plugged into the TV to access it?

If it's a smart TV, should just run via an app on the TV.

It's not, a plasma from almost 10 years ago

Go on then. Cancel. Companies can't keep doing this. Wages don't go up every year so why should a contract. This stuff is to offset the loss of customers. Annoying as ****!

Read thread, im not paying less for me. I understand prices going up with inflation but not 27%
Wages usually go up every year with inflation + extra depending on review / how xyz company is doing. At least they do for the private sector

I was really hoping they'd put my price up too so I had a right to cancel but I renewed at the end of last year on a "cheap" deal so can't. We don't even watch Sky now with the lack of sport, all the films are turd and Comedy (Friends) Central is the only channel we occasionally watch.

Any of the "premium" youview TV packages will have Comedy Central

TV Player premium is another option, although it doesn't have Comedy Central, it does have Discovery and History channels for example

Thanks. Can you get BT classic entertainment without their broadband? I selected it but then it goes on to choose broadband. I already have fibre which is cheaper and way faster than any of the BT offerings
