Sky replacing all Thompson boxes

Good riddance, mine is a buggy piece of ****, and very laggy changing channels.
EDIT - mine is an Amstrad. Any ideas if the replacements are going to have better EPG?

Mine takes an age to change channels, feels a bit like Vista 32bit with 2gb of memory. But I'm using an Amstrad box, not a Thomson, just looked at the back. Never tinkered with it for fear of voiding the warranty.

I use WMC, my mum has sky plus.

The EPG differences are comical. The sky box makes me want to throw the remote at the screen. Simple things like time delays for the selection cursor to move. The tiny amount of screen space that actually shows the EPG if you have the live picture box up (Which a proper epg solves by simply being contained on a translucent frame). Given how much sky users pay, its just so unbelievably meh.

Never had a problem with the Sky HD EPG myself no time delays, must be her box
 
I HATE the Sky EPG.

Admittedly the update made it better, but it's still absolute crap. There's so much more they could do with it.

Plus it's always slow as hell and really unresponsive, which may be more down to the box.
 
had our thomson box swapped out the other week

no problems guy was in and out in 2 mins :)
 
Not at home right now to check our box for manufacturer, but we have been getting some intermittant freezes now and then for the last little while. Is there an easy way to check who made the box, and whether its valid for replacement I could pass on to the family?
 
Got mine replaced. The menu and changing channels was really laggy and it made a really annoying buzzing sound.
 
if your sky box's are going slow, go into installer menu and do a 'rebuild', wont delete anything, just speeds it up. Like a De-frag if you will.

worth a shot for some of you perhaps.
 
Since sky changed the EPG HD its been a fail in my eyes.

1. The volume is awful compared to the standard EPG and isnt nowhere near as loud.

2. The menu EPG is so slow and unresponsive.

I have 2 HD boxes both different manufacturers.
