Hi Guys,

I recently posted a topic having purchased the NetGear N750 for use with Sky Broadband. I have everything setup now, but where and how exactly do I make the switch? I've retrieved a password and username for the old Sky router (DG934G - Dark grey one) but what do I do with this?

I'm hoping to use the new router and configure the Sky router to serve as a modem, is this possible? :o

I don't really know what to search for, nothing really came back.

Kind Regards
Moose

Using the new router for the switch/wireless? And the sky for the modem side of things?
If that's the case you don't need to use the username and password.

If your using your new router as a modem/router (if it has a modem) you will need the
Username/pass for authentication for your internet.

Thank you very much for clearing that up, how do I use the firmware from the N750 though (Instead of the default Sky firmware)? Do I need to configure anything else?

Moose I'm a little confused buddy, what do you mean using the 750 firmware instead of the sky firmware?

Are you on about how to get the sky router set a modem only and the new router to act as the wireless/switch only?

Yeah, so I can do all of the port forwarding and setup stuff on the new router/firmware and just have the Sky combo to act as a modem only. Until I buy a dedicated modem.

It's hard to explain with my lack of knowledge, apologies.

Unless someone can correct me about the sky firmware, only way I know is,

Sky router
Default ip is 192.168.0.1 (this is fine)
Turn wireless off
Turn firewall/security settings off

750
Disable dhcp
Configure ip settings differently to the sky
So your setting the 750 as 192.168.0.2
It will assign your devices as 192.168.0.3 and so on.

Connect Ethernet 1 port on your sky to the internet port of the 750
Should work like that.

Static ip's on your devices should not match the 0.1 and 0.2 or you will have connection problems

I've just done a complete reset of the router and the combo, as I couldn't port forward because something is blocking it (Not Windows firewall ect). Would you be able to review the steps you wrote above? Some steps seem to be different compared to the link I posted (Sky User). :)

Thanks!
