Anyone here pay for a Sky subscription that is not at their address? Is this even possible to do?

I had an idea of getting my mother-in-law Sky as a Christmas present. Trouble is, I'd like to do this as a surprise and I also want to pay for the subscription charges once it is all installed. Being a cable customer, I am clueless about Sky and I really didn't want to get into a lengthy conversation with any of their sales reps about this, so thought I would ask here first :)

Yes.

I setup with the operators for my girlfriend to have sky in her house, but to have her mother pay for it.

They understood, even when i said i had my own dish etc, and didn't need installation or a landline connection.

Now that was complicated, and nowt went wrong.

Not like crappy dumb cable ops ;)

Yeah, you will need to have it in your name though. So no one else will be able to call up regarding billing enquiries. But if you set up a password on the account they can deal with most things if anything goes wrong.

Were they not advertising Sky as a christmas present last year on tv? Something along the lines of buying a years worth of subscriptions for someone along with the connection set-up. Even if they didn't allow it though, it would probably be very simple to get the account in her name and then set up a standing order for the subscription into her bank account each month.
