Sky TV 1tb Box

I've noticed in Sky's t&c's for this box that new customers taking up HD or multiroom can get this box for £49. Existing customers have to pay £149.

Seeing as our sky contract has expired (it's in my partners name) i phoned sky and asked if i could purchase the box for £49 and take up another 12 months contract. we already have HD, multiroom etc.

I have phoned several numbers now and not one can offer me the box for £49 as i'm not a new customer.

what they've told me to do is cancel the sky we have and take a new contract up in my name.

now surely it's just easier to sell us the box for £49 and leave it as is.

finally have an answer.

Basically spoke to a guy in the cancelations dept. What he said is the only way to get a box for £49 is to cancel the HD subscription and Multiroom and then order a 1tb box + new HD subscription + multiroom. that way they can sell it me for £49.

bit of a work around but i get it all much quicker than i would through sales.

if you already have a sky hd box - just install a 1tb drive yourself. It's easy to do - loads of guides around the web and works perfectly well.

I did it about 6 months ago - 1tb drive cost £40, 2 hours of my time to open up the box, take hard drive out, copy contents of the drive to the new drive, reinstall box, screw up and plug in. That's it really.

no 12 month new contract, mulitroom etc.

i've already upgraded the box to a 500gb drive but the box is over 2 years old now and definitely showing signs of wear and tear.

The only button that works on top of the box is the backup button thanks to my 14month old daughter

so wanted a new box and at £49 the 1tb suits my needs

The sky 1TB box comes with a 1.5TB harddrive in it.....

The 1.5TB drive is split like this..
500GB used for anytime
1TB used for your own recordings
