Sky > Using a non-Sky router

Has anyone had any issues with using a non-Sky supplied router on Sky broadband?

I know in the t+c's it states to use on the Sky supplied equipment - Do they actually enforce this policy?
 
I heard they don't enforce it but then I also heard (although I can't remember where) that people have been kicked off for using their own router. It's in the T&Cs so if you choose to breach contract then they have the power to do so, I suppose.

I've had two routers from Sky now and find them alright but not very good at keeping a connection alive when the SNR drops.
 
I use a non sky router since the default dlink one is rubbish with torrents, now you have made me worried about getting kicked off sky.
 
It might have been scare-mongering by pro-sky type people. I'm sure it's technically possible for Sky to check which router is attched to the line but I find it unlikely that they'd actually bother. Besides if they will insist on cutting corners and providing cheap rubbish routers then people wouldn't want to be using other types would they.

I'd have changed mine years ago if I wsn't such a tight git. It works, most of the time, therefore I won't spend money.
 
I highly doubt they kick anyone off for using a non-Sky router. I think they're just trying to make clear that doing so is unsupported. I've been using my own router on Sky for years with no issues.
