About a year ago I had sky hd installed and when the guy came to install I was told that as I only had a single feed the recording function would not work. However, the neighbour had sky hd installed yesterday and the guy seems to have got Sky hd working on both cables. We both live in flats and getting permission to have a second cable has been near impossible. Both of properties are identifcal

It woul appeal that he has connected the tv aerial feed into the sky+ box so the box now has two feeds. When the neighbour showed me his sky hd the settings menue stated both signal 1 and singal 2 were being recieved and the record function seems to be working?

Oh also in my flat there is a grey box which has a two way splitter 1 in and 2 out.

Is there a catch to this or is his sky + fully working

unless u have another feed in from the dish you wont get a signal. I work for sky . you cant split one signal either, not sure how ur mate has got it but i no for sure he must have a second feed coming into his flat from the dish somehow.

The aerial feed must go to the dish then? If the sky box is saying signal strength on both feed then its all working

if its got two signals and its all working then yes it looks to me as though the tv ariel goes to the dish, buts its strange!

It all depends how the satellite signals are distributed to your flats... Have you tried doing the same as your neighbour?

Who installed it? Sky, or the communal dish provider?

Setups like this often triplex satellite/tv/radio signals. You just put a triplex plate (such as the one both of you have for the 'first' feed) on the socket to split them out again. So it's possible the 'aerial' socket does have a Sky feed on it.

For what it's worth, Sky will still record with only one feed - just won't allow you to watch one channel while recording another (or, obviously, record two at the same time).
