Skydiving

I did a static line and also a Level 1 freefall a few weeks later. This was about 3/4 years ago though and although I wanted to contunue with the AFF course other things took priority at the time.

Remember with the AFF course that it is split up into levels so you don't have to fork out all that money at once, you can do it level by level.

Vid of my jump is Here.

Outrageous. Gotta try that  :D

Looks like a good jump! :D

Legs are a bit stiff, you need to relax and arch a bit more, but you'll get used to it. Almost grabbed the handle without help! Not many people do that at all. :) Looked like a good slow opening too. :) Good jump though. Impressed. :)

Westy, I haven't jumped in a few years and I've sold my rigs and kit - I just haven't got the time, money or inclination to do it at the moment,. I may well get back into it in due course - but with over 500 jumps under my belt I'm quite happy.

Actually it was all a cunning plan for a daredevil steal.

You see I knew where the cord was but I wanted to steal the instructors altimeter. Each time I did a practice pull I gently brushed it to get a feeling for where it was.

On my actual pull I tried to take it but was caught in the act :(

I'm hopefully going to be doing my static line jump course soon at the Strathallen DZ.

Looking forward to it :)

I did all my ratings and became qualified via static line jumps. I personally prefer it as you take it step by step and you can see yourself progressing as the plane goes higher and higher on your jumps as you go through the different levels :D

How many skydivers do we have on here just out of interest ?

I've got 90 ish jumps and jump at Peterlee or Langar!... :D

I used to go to Langar - it's where I learnt to jump. :)

Is Milko and Dave Norris still there?

I did my RAPs course at Langar last september and have been jumping there ever since. Next jump will be my 50th, hoping to get B cert once uni exams are all finished.

Dave Morris is there occasionally, but Milko is still going strong.

Here's me just after exiting on my 10s at 6000ft, excuse the purple jumpsuit. Love this pic :D

I've only done on jump as well, was a static line jump. Was a couple of years ago now and the weather kept stopping me, gave up as the nearest drop zone is 125 miles away and after a few 250 mile drives to sit round all day cos its slightly too windy got a bit tedious, combined with the fact that due to the weather the time since my last jump exceeded the maximum (3 months IIRC?) so I'd have to pay to do the full training again. I think I travelled up on the first weekend to do the initial training, and then the next day was too windy, and this happened 3 other times till the last time I went up when I managed. So I drove around 1250 miles to do that one jump. Mostly poor timing/bad luck I guess but I'm not dedicated enough to continue. Maybe if I moved to Spain or something.... :D

I went skydiving on Friday as it happens...annoyingly, just as a spectator. Me and some friends had been planning it for a while, but there was a maximum weight limit of 92KG. I only managed to get down to 93.5KGs, so I spent the day sitting on the aerodrome looking skyward, and as a result I got very, very sunburnt...still feeling it now :D

However, all the people that jumped (tandems) said it was fantastic and the guy who organised it is gonna do it again sometime, so Im gonna keep shifting weight so I can join them next time.
