Probably a few cool features with DDR4 clocking with new motherboards and a small per clock improvement unnoticeable without benchmarking. A small clock boost of 100-200Mhz for the chips, putting to use the power they saved as the TDP difference on paper (which should be taken with much salt) would not be enough to sell new chips but an improved clock is.

Just my guess and probably quite off the mark on everything but the clock for clock improvement.

It will be an absolute monster of a CPU for video encoding, rendering, streaming etc.

For games, it will be 1-2 FPS faster than the 6700k at most, due to games not taking advantage of more cores. The only bonus will be the extra cache, which should net a very small performance improvement in games.
 
More of the same sort of improvements as you go gen to gen, Look at Haswell-e over Ivy-e. It did the big updates which were moving the low end model up to 6 cores, the top end model upto 8 cores and the ram to DDR4. Now that has been done you are unlikely to get anything other than the usual small performance gains.
Let's hope AMD get back in the game soon so that can change.
 
Well I see no reason why Skylake-E wouldn't be better, but I don't think it'll be better enough to warrant upgrading from Haswell-E, let alone Broadwell-E. We shall see.

I would expect it to show up in about 18 months time at the current rate of slippage on Intel's roadmap. Broadwell-E looks like it will come in tail end of Q1 2016 as the refresh CPU lineup for x99....

I would not be surprised to see Skylake-E sometime in Q1-2 2017.

By that time Intel may be looking to debut PCI-E 4 on whatever the new motherboard chipset the release to support Skylake-E will be (not socket 2011-3 compatible)

We will probably see the now usual small improvements in IPC and power consumption. I would expect that the lowliest chip 7820k? (assuming 6820k is Broadwell-E) will still be a six core/ twelve thread

The most compelling upgrade draw will likely be any new motherboard/ chipset features they add because its unlikely to offer anything revolutionary in terms of performance

But its all really speculation at this point as we are still awaiting more info re Broadwell-E first
