Skylake-E

+5% higher performance from the previous iteration - Broadwell-E i presume - and a higher price for the entry level one higher than the mainstream i7, because if i were to go now to by one i would get the 5820k instead of the 6700k price wise

Incorrect, FIVR is returning for the Skylake Xeons/-E chips.

How would you possibly know this. This is likely to still be incompatible with existing boards.

I've had confirmation from ASUS that they too aren't sure so it completely makes more sense to assume that it will retain the external VR.

I know this as I followed the IDF coverage over a month ago. Just because your ignorant of current events doesn't mean others have to be too....

Julius Mandelblat, the lead Skylake designer, explained that the FIVR was removed from desktop/mobile Skylake due to them waiting to hit tablet power consumption levels. They didn't have time to add it back for the top desktop skews (-K).

Skylake-EP/E will of course feature the FIVR, and obviously it will be incompatible with X99.

I don't care what you read on the internet, I can tell you this is an uncertainty and there is no possible way you could know this for sure. That is all there is to it. You say 'of course' as if you have any idea at all. I speak to people who are closely connected to the industry - and if they're uncertain then there's very little chance you would know anything - least of all from a press event.

It was from the mouth of the Skylake lead developer, Julius Mandelblat. I'll take his word over yours, or anyone you're associated with, fictional, tellytubby or not.

I suggest you post up where you read this so I can clarify both for your benefit and others that he in fact was not referring to SKLE. You're certainly a talent. I suppose at this stage it's not really of any real importance, my gripe is with people posting misinformation or their own understanding as fact

Lots of info in this thread about the FIVR being returned for Skylake-EP/E:

http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2436511&highlight=skylake+fivr

This is in addition to what we already know of Skylake-E:

Hex Channel DDR4
48 PCI-E lanes (on top X model for Skylake-E)
New Socket: Socket P (number of pins unknown)

Now days all the gains are had with the motherboards. Hopefully that trend ends but its usually sata/pci/usb etc connections and such that come with the new board where we're getting gains :(

The reason i jumped from my 920 was pretty much just for new USB and sata.

Aslong as you are aware this is a thread filled with people making the same assumptions as you, then there's nothing else I can really tell you.
