** SKYLAKE MEMORY NOW AVAILABLE!! **

Genuine question here. How come the timings are more or less the same throughout the DDR4 speed range? With ram such as DDR2 and DDR3 the higher the speed the slacker the timings are so why isn't that the same with DDR4?

A guess that the frequency hasn't pushed capabilities of DDR4 and that the timings are good across the board.

Ian will know far more than most but I'd say there's a higher min for DDR4 versus DDR3, with DDR4 speeds remaining pedestrian there hasn't been a need to increase timings to retain achievable rated speeds. Some mobos may still bump up timings by 1, moreso if using larger capacities and depends on your IMC/IC.

I'd want to know why is it taking so long to reach 4/5GHz rated frequencies, is this down to needing further development on the IMC for future CPUs or purely production/filtering costs for a very limited segment of the market?

Gibbo, any idea if DDR3L is going to be popular on z170 boards via a mix of it and DDR4 or it solely? Or are most enthusiast boards adopting DDR4 only?

Kingston HyperX Predator are King of DDR4 there binning process currently the best in the Business.

They have massive investment in the best IC's and remain very stable and reliable which has always been there strength.

Are the HyperX fury any good?

I don't know about that. The 4690k has been a ridiculous £200 for some time now and you just know that Intel is going to charge even more for it's latest release. I will be pleasantly surprised if it is cheaper than Broadwell but I just can't see it happening.
I may as well post this here; a quick google at U.S pricing reveals this.

£211.30 inc vat - i5-6600K
£304.70 inc vat - i7-6700K

Prices seem abit steep, because the 2500K / 2600K still hold their own when it comes to gaming with the latest GPU's. If you look on various forums for Motherboard overclocking, they really have stagnated since Sandybridge to be honest, not everyone out there has been jumping on the next generation of CPU's / Motherboards like they did with Sandybridge, because simply the pricing of the CPU's vs the performance increases has been no where near good enough.

If that pricing holds then a lot of people should consider a 5820k depending on how well the retail skylake chips overclock

Awesome! I really wanted 16GB Dimms, and there they are! 32GB (2x16) is exactly what I wanted. Thanks :)

Some great prices on those 2x8gb sticks at £129.95 inc VAT.

Stupid question I know, but will the Z170 allow us to have 2 sets of duel DDR4 in the future. Ie if I buy 2x8gb (16GB) now, can I put another 2 stick in at the same speeds a few years down the line to have a total of 32GB? or even 64GB if you went x4 16GB sticks......
