** SKYLAKE MEMORY NOW AVAILABLE!! **

A sensible upgrade.

Were doing some testing between Skylake and X99, as we believe we could offer X99 upgrades and systems for near similar money but the X99 in theory has a lot more horsepower, more cores/threads, quad vs dual channel and more PCI-E lanes. If X99 can be had for only a small amount more cash then maybe X99 is the better option with a 5820k. :)

Thanks gibbo, price of an x99 setup needs to come down a long way first. It's not like my system is slow, would I really see £500 improvement moving from what I have to x99.......that's the question.

Don't see why Intel need to drop X99 prices, 6700k is £300, 5820k is £330, seems a bargain really. 16GB Quad DDR4 kits are sub £100 on OcUK and the X99 boards start around £80 higher but are higher spec with more features. X99 is not a whole lot more. :)

Looking good! How big is the chance that gamers will need 32GB RAM in the next five years? I'm thinking 16 is well enough. Quite like the Kingston Predators, but for the very tall heatspreader and that they always put the sticker on side of the sticks where you can see them.

Depends entirely on the application workload

Give us your wise words on Skylake then Silent you having tested and all that.

Nick Kingston better on Skylake so far mate. But need to wait longer to be 100% certain on this as boards far from mature in terms of bios.

Cheers Ian, have you noticed any difference in speed binned kits, just buy fastest or not worth it??
Suppose you cant really answer that here being a retailer 'n' all

Any news on white DDR4 RAM? The only ones I have managed to find on the internet is Panram, and it's far too rich for my taste.

I suspect once we see more kits from other vendors were likely to see various colours etc.

That's not really relevant to his question.

[edit] as for the rest, not worth the effort really.

I guess so! I think my plans for a black/white rig are just not going to happen at the present time, especially since I don't like the look of Corsair LPX.

Also I'd like to say thanks for helping me today :)

Some nice prices, kind of wish I had laid off my upgrade to Z97 for a few more months and just jumped into x99... the price of DDR 4 at the time put me off!

So uh, is there really MUCH real world performance difference in the bandwidths?

Looking at grabbing 2400mz 16GB (same as my dominator DDR3 kit) but I keep seeing people really jumping on 3000 and so on and wondering if the IRL difference is actually worth it or if this is just for benchmarks. :p

So guys, been out of the loop for like 7 years since built new pc, if i bought the i7 6700K and only 2400mz ddr 4 ram, does that hinder me in anyway if i wanted to overclock the cpu, i mean, if i bought the 3200mz ddr4 would cpu overclock any higher ? or if cpu was capable of like 4.8ghz on 3200 ram, it could still reach that on 2400 ram, thx
