Sky's Sharp Objects HiFi System

Some folk like fast cars. Some folk own their own plane. Some sink their money in to a yatch or two. Others have several houses around the world.

A surprising number have all of the above and a very nice Hi-fi or three as well.

The thing is, nothing individually is ultra high-end. A VPI Scout turntable at $4000 is somewhere below Linn LP12 territory. The pre-amp and power amps would rank as distinctly mid-range compared to Naim or a dozen other electronics manufacturers. Ditto the speakers. You could easily spend well in excess of £70K on a pair of Focals.

If the chap has the disposable income and ejoys music then good luck to him.

It a Moon setup I can't remember if it a NA company or a Canadian company. The amps are W8 or 8.5 can't remember what they are up to nowadays. Never heard one one personally as it has a very very clean sound or so I am told. Not my cup of tea.

Yes, but it's not fictional Hi-Fi, is it.

From the piece in Vulture 'According to director Jean-Marc Vallée, Alan is using “the ultimate audiophile system on the market,” '. I beg to differ. This isn't the ultimate audiophile system on the market, not by a long chalk.

It's very nice, don't get me wrong. But it's the Hi-Fi equivalent of buying a Porsche 911 Carerra and claiming one owns the world's best supercar.
