Slackworth. Could you benchmark the current OCZ SSD's?

Hi there

A while back you benchmarked the Intel SSD's. Now OCZ have launched the Solid, Apex and Vertex drives it would be a great benefit if you could benchmark these drives for us and show us the results.

For example on paper there isn't a huge difference between the Solid and Vertex read transfer rates and without any reviews to go on it's hard to know if it's worth spending the extra on the more expensive models, or if we should just go with a couple of 'Solid' models in RAID 0

Need to use a bench that will indicate random write problems too, sustained reads/writes are unimportant compared to that issue.

I seem to recall that the PCMark suite has some good real world style tests. Not used it myself though.

I can only benchmark the Solid's at the moment as we still don't have any Vertex or Apex in stock. Hopefully OCZ will be getting some of these soon.

Want me to wait till they come in?

I'd be very interested to see results too Slackworth. A decently priced (and performing 120gb ish SSD) is the one (well maybe two, one for each lappy) significant hardware purchase I can see myself making this year (would compliment my lovely Macbook perfectly).

The Intels look great, but I am not going to pay silly money for an HD no matter how fast they are! So the Vertex/Apex look intruiging.
